From DSAndrew Sachs has accepted the Coronation Street role offered to him last month. The Fawlty Towers actor, who made the news this autumn during the Manuelgate affair, revealed that he has not let his age get in the way of the opportunity. "They're asking me to do Coronation Street next year. I'm a little concerned because I'm a pensioner, as the newspapers keep telling me, and it takes me longer to learn the lines. I'm going to take up the challenge anyway," he told the Radio Times. Sachs added that he is already familiar with the soap thanks to his wife, saying: "I have to watch Coronation Street. It was a condition of my marriage. My wife was such a fan that I've been watching it since 1962."

Maybe he'll whist Reet away. Well providing he can keep her in the collagen she's become accustomed to then everyone will think he's got a 10 year old wife. Patsy

He's signed. From ITV:
Sachs signs (finally)
Mon 19 Jan
It has been a long time coming but we can finally confirm that Andrew Sachs is going to star in Coronation Street.
The veteran star of Fawlty Towers has signed up to play Ramsay Clegg, the half-brother of Norris Cole.
Ramsay is the illegitimate son of Norris's mother, who gave birth to him as a teenager.
Our congratulations to Mr. Sachs, we can't wait to see him bring his comic talents to Weatherfield.
