From Yahoo NewsITV has revealed which stars will be getting their skates on for the new series of Dancing On Ice. The line-up will see well-known faces from the world of sport take on TV presenters and soap stars in a bid to be named the 2009 skating champion. Todd Carty, star of Grange Hill and The Bill, will be competing alongside ex-EastEnders and Hollyoaks actress Gemma Bissix and former Emmerdale star Roxanne Pallet. Footballer Graeme Le Saux and rugby's Ellery Hanley will also be battling for viewers' votes, alongside TV presenters Jeremy Edwards, Melinda Messenger, Zoe Salmon and Michael Underwood. Loose Women's Coleen Nolan is taking part in the show after losing five stone in weight over the last couple of years. Singers Ray Quinn and Jessica Taylor complete this year's line-up and the celebrities will once again be coached by Olympic legends Torville and Dean.

Me too.
I heard that Christopher Dean has injured his shoulder and isn't allowed to skate. I do hope he is ok, the best bit is when he and Jayne dance

Maybe they should just take them to one of the frozen lakes with it being hosted from the bank. LOL!

Public voting with their hearts rather than their brains (again). Todd Carty far and away the worst skater, and not even in the skate-off. Ray Quinn brilliant - already pretty much up to the standard you'd expect to see in the final few weeks. Obviously the fact that he's done roller-blading helped, but very impressive none the less.

I have the feeling that Todd Carty has the 'John Sargeant' factor. ;D
I thought Ray Quin was brilliant, what a livewire.

Well I thought the dance-off would be between Melinda and Gemma, or possibly Coleen - so no real surprise to see Gemma go.
Gemma very pretty, but very full of herself and a bit 'gobby' - looked very 'wobbly' at times.
Coleen probably the weakest, but I suspect her popularity will keep her in a while longer.
Melinda 'ok', and tiny, which usually helps.
Jessica in a different league to the others (as Ray was for the boys), but this is only the first week, and she (and Ray) could be caught up.

I an not surprised Gemma was in the bottom two........too gobby by half. she said in one paper she couldn't speak to Jason afterwards in case she said something rude. I sure that really upset him !!

She thinks she's someone but is a lousy actress. EE made a huge mistake bringing her back because she was so appalling.

Travesty again (what a surprise)
No way did Jeremy deserve to be in the skate-off, let alone be the one to go.
Yes, Todd Carty was entertaining, but for all the wrong reasons.
Ray once again easily the best, but now fairly close for second place between Jessica, Roxanne and Zoe.
The scoring was all over the place tho', and now Ruthie seems as bad as Jason when it comes to dishing out cr@p scores.
It's 'OK' as entertainment, but so full of padding as a show that you can go out and make a cup of tea every 5 minutes.
Not in the same league as SCD as a show, tho' you have to take your hat off to the celebs - it's got to be even tougher than SCD in training and execution (and far more dangerous).

Sour grapes? From the Sun:
Robbed by Nick
By JEN BLACKBURN
Published: Today
FURIOUS Dancing On Ice reject Michael Underwood slammed judge Nicky Slater yesterday — accusing him of unfair scoring.
The seething presenter, 33, said the former ice champ was awarding points “randomly”.
And in a scorching attack Michael also said the ITV1 contest is BIASED against male contestants because the women have to do far less.
The former GMTV reporter spoke out after three of five judges chose to save ex-model Melinda Messenger, 37, instead of him after Sunday night’s skate-off.
He said he saw red when Olympian Nicky, 50, gave reporter Donal MacIntyre, 43 — who fell over during his routine — just half a point less than he gave X Factor runner-up Ray Quinn’s error-free performance.
Michael said: “Unfortunately this series there’s been a lot of random scoring — inconsistencies — Nicky’s scoring especially.
“He’ll be giving Donal 4.5 and then Ray five and the difference between Ray and Donal is not point five. You want to see consistency.”
Ironically Nicky gave Michael his joint highest score on Sunday, of four out of six.
He also voted to SAVE him in the skate-off. Meanwhile Michael also claimed the women celebrities have it unfairly easy because their professional male partners do an unfair share of the work.
He said: “The girls can get away with it — they can be lifted, they can hold positions, they don’t have to have as much feet on the ice.”

I thought Todd did great this week. You could tell there was a vast improvement when he came on at the start without being led. Are the judges giving him low marks because 1) they hate him or 2) they're trying to encourage him to do better? Zoe Salmon was excellent. I am wondering about the points. Rather too convenient Jason suddenly announced he'd marked Roxanne differently after their routine when it was explained the headbanger wasn't done because he grabbed her foot awkwardly.

Woohoo! Justice at last - the right two people in the skate-off, and the right person voted off. What is Jason's problem with Roxanne? He's been spiteful to her from Day One, and IMO she's certainly in the top 5 remaining pairs. He really is very unpleasant, and not in the same way as CGH in SCD, or SC in X Factor, both of whom actually talk sense most of the time. No, he seems to be nasty just for the sake of it. He always picks on someone; has done in every series.

Just as he was improving too. In a couple of weeks his confidence could have been much greater. I won't watch again.

Todd had a good run for money but the right decision was made. I had a horrible feeling he would last till the end. He has brought a lot of pleasure to a great many people though, nobody will forget that week he shot off the stage. ;D
Jason Gardiner was on 'This Morning' and he was just as nasty about Roxanne, that bloke really dislikes her. I don't think he will ever give her a good mark no matter how well she skates.

Well Todd will be on the tour so he's not gone yet! Tood clearly had no confidence on them. I don't which is why I've never even roller skated. He was slowly getting it. He'd never have been top 3 but who knows how well he'd have done? He was determined to learn which goes in his favour.

The usual voting fiasco, with the best female skater ( Jessica ) in the skate off. No way should Melinda have been in the bottom two either. Could it be that these two are not very popular.? By rights, Coleen should have gone, I have yet to see her skate without hanging on to her partners hand, and she looks clumsy and clunky.

I agree - I like Coleen as a person, but her skating hasn't really improved, and TBH it looks like she does the same old routine every week.
Nice to see Roxanne finally get some decent comments, altho' IMO she still gets marked too low.
Ray awesome (again) - and amazingly it's not just him you watch - it's a terrific partnership.
Jessica good again; definitely running second to Ray now, tho' I thought her previous week's performance had more 'oomph'.
Good show, tho' I'm not sure now whether I dislike Ruthie more than Jason - she's a right hard-faced cow, and she seems to copy Jason's scoring consistently.

This show is turning into even more of a farce than SCD.
Zoe was pushing Jessica hard for second place, and neither of them should have been in the skate-off.
Coleen may be a sweet person, but she's shown little or no improvement in her skating since Day One, and she should have gone weeks ago.
Unfortunately, many of the poor misguided viewers are obviously either blind or just plain stupid, and have failed to notice the words 'Dancing' and 'Ice' in the title of the show.
TBH, the only reason I'm watching now is to see the amazing routines that Ray and Maria come up with week after week.
That boy could easily become a professional, and as a pair, they look fantastic - as if they've been together for years.

What an absolute b****y farce yet again. Not once did Coleen dance solo, all that happened was she got lifted a lot, she couldn't even do the jump without hanging onto he partners hand. I hate to say this but I wouldn't be surprised if she won, and if she does....I don't think ITV will do another series. I no longer vote as there is little point Both Jessica and Zoe danced beautifully and should never have been in the skateoff I think Ray is excellent, even though he is smug, I hope to heck he wins.

Hallelujah!
The Great British Unwashed finally see sense, and Coleen ends up in the Skate-off, where it is inevitable that the judges do the right thing, and vote her out.
Ray absolutely awesome again - as Nicky said, it's like watching a pro skater.
In fact I'd go further, and say that, to me, he actually looks better than some of the pro skaters. The boy is totally fearless, and yet makes everything look sublimely easy. He has real grace and flow, obviously down to his many years of Latin and Ballroom dancing, and yet he's also managed to improve week by week, giving us more and more complex routines.
A genuine star, whether you like him or not.
Donal is undoubtedly the 'Most Improved', but there is still something a bit stiff about his upper body - I wonder whether he has an ongoing problem with his neck or upper back? He's a real tryer, but not in the same league as Ray.
Jessica started off well, but hasn't progressed as much as some. She's obviously a talented skater, and looks at home on the ice, but I feel most of her performances have been a bit 'wooden', and lacked emotion and sense of drama.
Ray should win the Final by a country mile.

At last the Coleen voters have seen sense. Although IMO the final should really have been Ray, Jessica and Zoe.
I agree with your remarks about Ray, he is fantastic and could very well have a future in ice-skating ( it would be a shame to waste that talent once DOI has finished )
At least with Coleen finally gone, there is hope for the future of the programme.
I rather like the idea of a spin-off of some kind, with T&D and amateur skaters ( an extended version of the little segment that they do in DOI )

Woohoo!
The right couple actually won!
Wasn't surprised that Donal joined him in the final. Jessica was probably the better skater, but Donal had shown the most overall improvement, and I think the public just preferred him to Jessica - simple as.
Three pretty much faultless routines from Ray and Maria, two sets of full marks and the trophy.
They made a truly stunning pair - just couldn't take my eyes of them whenever they were on the ice.
I know people say he's smug and really up himself, but he bloody well deserves to be, and he's very young.
Thought he and Maria had a wonderful relationship throughout, and both looked genuinely moved when they won, despite being favorites.
My only (minor) disappointment was that they didn't choose to repeat last weeks' Samba-inspired routine as their 'favourite', which I thought was just awesome, choosing the '80's week' routine instead.
Deserving winners.
10/10
(As a postscript, I see Ray has just been confirmed as Danny Zuko for a run in Grease in the West End.)

From the Sun:
Purge the panel By COLIN ROBERTSON Deputy TV Editor
Published: Today LAST night’s Dancing On Ice final could well be the last for one of the judges — because ITV bosses are considering slashing the panel down to FOUR.
Producers are worried the five-strong group doesn’t allow for enough criticism as the judges struggle to each have their say.
They reckon a four-strong panel would be better and give a more rounded view.
An insider said: “There are some great names on the panel but sometimes we don’t get enough out of them. In the early stages of the competition there are so many dancers you only have a few minutes for them to comment.
“Often we only have time for one judge so you have four people who are sitting there twiddling their thumbs.”
The source added that a four-strong panel had proved successful on shows like The X Factor and Strictly Come Dancing.
The insider said: “On Strictly they all get a decent bit to say and also you remember who said what. You can also develop each one’s personality a bit better if there are fewer judges.”
The plan is at a very early stage so no decisions have been made about who would go.
The Dancing On Ice panel currently comprises Jason Gardiner, Robin Cousins, Karen Barber, Nicky Slater and Ruthie Henshall.
If the cutback happens it will be warmly welcomed by bitchy judge Jason Gardiner.
Last week he told how he thought a five-strong panel was too much. He said: “I think there are too many judges on our panel. As it is we don’t have the airtime to have a say.
“The panel needs to be cut down to three or four.
“Sometimes only one judge will get to speak and that’s not enough for me.”
ITV chiefs will no doubt give the plan some serious thought after disastrously changing the Britain’s Got Talent panel from three to four — then switching back.
They hired Kelly Brook to add some extra glamour alongside Amanda Holden, Simon Cowell and Piers Morgan.
But the plan backfired and Kelly was ditched after just a few days.
