Nicolette Sheridan has confirmed that she is quitting Desperate Housewives at the end of season five.

The 45-year-old actress, who plays Edie Britt, is one of the original cast members in the ABC drama.

No details about her exit storyline have been released. However, her representative claimed that her final episodes would not air in the US "until April".

"She had a great time on the show and is looking forward to her next project," her rep told People.

Desperate Housewives returns to Channel 4 on February 25 at 10pm.

Although this has been rumoured, on and off, for ages, I'll still be really sorry to see her go.

Edie is definitely one of my favourites - she may be the biggest bitch of the lot, but she's also probably the most honest of them all - she's not afraid to call a spade a spade, and as we now know, she had a 'damaged' past. Also like her relationship with Mrs McCluskey.

Still find it hard to believe that Nicolette Sheridan was born in Sussex!

What a surprise - not. Although I don't watch, I'm inclined to believe Nicolette now. Just a shame no one formerly on the show is supporting her.
