American Idol has been hit by claims that the show is fixed, with the final four contestants already chosen.
A member of staff claimed that producers and judges have earmarked Danny Gokey, Lil Rounds, Adam Lambert and Alexis Grace for the final four.
Which will upset the seven other contestants still in the running on Simon Cowell's show.
The female staffer told a U.S. source: 'Adam Lambert and Lil Rounds are better singers and musicians than Gokey and Grace, but they’re too much like past winners and successes.'
Adam is apparently too similar in style and sound to Chris Daughtry, the rock singer who came fourth in the fifth season of the show.
And Lil Rounds is said be a 'dead ringer' for Fantasia, who won the third season of American Idol in 2004.
The woman added: 'The producers really want it to be Danny or Alexis. They think they’re very commercially viable, have a good image and a great story.'
She said Danny Gokey is receiving a lot of airtime because viewers are drawn to his heartbreaking back story. His wife, Sophie, died during heart surgery just a month before his audition.
Fox, the US TV channel which broadcasts American Idol, have made no comment on the allegations.
But a television insider told the New York Daily News: 'It’d be very hard to manipulate the entire final four. Sure, the judges get one vote to save someone, but that’s before the top five, so theoretically, it’s just delaying the inevitable.
'There’d have to be so many people lying for them to pull something like this off — so I doubt it’s true.'
