AN EMMERDALE actor pleaded guilty today to assaulting a 16-year-old boy.
Luke Tittensor, 19, who plays teenage tearaway Daz Eden in the ITV soap, admitted inflicting grievous bodily harm to his victim in Rochdale, Lancs, on February 15 last year.
Bolton Crown Court heard how the victim was left "badly injured" and required surgery following the attack.
Prosecuting, Mark Ford said: "He suffered a displaced fracture on the lower jaw which necessitated corrective surgery.
"He was in hospital for three days and had a metal plate and screws inserted into the bone in order to repair the damage inflicted."
Mr Ford said the young victim, who cannot be named, had displayed "an extremely mature attitude" towards the proceedings.
"He is a young man, only 16 at the time of this attack," Mr Ford told the court.
"His overriding concern, however, was that the defendant should accept responsibility for what he did to him."
It is understood that on the day of the incident, the victim was in the street waiting for a taxi when an item was thrown at him from the car Tittensor was travelling in.
The actor is later thought to have got out of the car and attacked the 16-year-old.
Tittensor, of Ryecroft Avenue, Heywood, near Rochdale, appeared in court wearing a black suit and black tie and spoke only to confirm his name and enter his plea.
He had been due to face trial, but after pleading guilty to inflicting grievous bodily harm today he will be sentenced on April 29.
Tittensor has a twin brother, Elliot, and both have appeared in the ITV drama Shameless as the character Carl Gallagher.
Tittensor became a regular actor in the Yorkshire soap since first joining the cast in October 2003
