From the Sun:
Exclusive So long, Lily By SARA NATHAN
Published: Today NEIGHBOURS legend Anne Charleston has been AXED as Lily in Emmerdale.
The veteran joined the soap in 2006 as Edna Birch’s long-lost sister.
But ITV bosses have told Anne — an international TV treasure for her role as Madge Bishop in the Aussie drama — they plan to write her out in the summer.
Anne, 66, said: “I have thoroughly enjoyed playing Lily — but we have agreed the time is right to move on.
“I’ve a couple of projects in the pipeline that I am now looking forward to enormously.”
Lily Butterfield has proved to be the exact opposite of pious hat-wearing sister Edna, who is played by Shirley Stelfox.
Anne’s character famously caused trouble when she started dealing drugs from her own cannabis farm. The pensioner had been growing the illegal weed for her own use.
But when local scumbag Eli Dingle (Joseph Gilgun) found out, he forced her to start dealing with him.
A source said: “Everyone’s sad to see Anne go — but she is determined her exit will be as exciting as possible.”

She didn't when I watched. I always thought they wasted an opportunity with Pearl and Len. Should've been Edna.

Edna and Len would have been good together, yes!
I like Lily so its a pity she is going.

The thing is...now Len has died there is no reason for Pearl to be in Emmerdale anymore. Lily still has ties to Emmerdale with her sister Edna. It`s so unfair

Well Pearl has her friends there - could say the same about Betty as she is on her own too.
