So so. Michelle Ryan was so wooden. It was also bitty. Not a bad romp all told but still crap.

We loved it - pretty simple storyline, but great entertainment throughout.
...and don't agree at all about Michelle Ryan - we thought she was perfect - possibly the best DW sidekick for ages. More please.
In a lot of ways, I prefer these one-off specials.

I enjoyed it and thought Michelle Ryan was great. I also think it's a shame she is only in the one episode.

CGI was crap again, especially the bus.
I was waiting for Michelle Ryan to deliver her lines in more than one flat tone. And Christina should have got the bends after being hauled up so fast. You can tell which parts were RTD since he's obsessed with snoggingl. There was no need for that at all and I hope Steven Moffatt drops it.

it was OK.....What made us laugh was that there was more reaction when the bus flew than when they found they were on an alien planet which no one seemed concerned about lol
I do wish they wouldn't have the 'humouros' endings..why would he let a thief take control and escape in a flying bus?? possibly causing havoc and death around London..she can't be experienced at driving an ordinary bus..never mind a flying one

LOL! Lee Evans was purely for comic value rather than a real part of the story. The UNIT woman was pointless.

But surely there have always been occasional light-hearted, humorous episodes of DW?
Yes it was 'fluffy', yes it had holes in the plot you could drive a bus through (literally), but at this time of the evening I'm not looking for taut, well-devised, serious drama - I'm looking for light entertainment, and for me, that's exactly what it delivered.

Yes and there's always been really crap ones too. But with the light-hearted ones the casting and writing was better. The Romans, for instance, may be historically inaccurate, but it's a bloody good romp. There again, the older ones were longer giving more chance for plot and character development. 100 mins for The Romans.

I too am not looking for anything heavy..BUT..I want a well constructed plot, good writing, good acting and believable happenings....and what was with all the Indiana Jones style music?
If you don't expect the best they can do then you are left with shoddy plots, crap writing and stupid unbelievalbe things and loads of plotholes where the writers can't be bothered to explain

As we've said since it came back, the stories are just crap because the eps are too short. Too many plotholes, too many unanswered questions. We're used to it being better. Even the JNT era is better than most of these and that's saying something.
