From DSActor Luke Tittensor has been axed from ITV soap Emmerdale after recently pleading guilty to GBH. Following a meeting with the show's bosses, the decision has been taken to terminate the 19-year-old's contract due to the serious nature of the charge. Last month, Tittensor - who plays Daz Eden in the soap - admitted to inflicting grievous bodily harm on an unnamed 16-year-old in an incident which took place in Rochdale, Lancashire on February 15. The teenager in question suffered a broken jaw and was forced to undergo corrective surgery. A spokesperson for the ITV soap said: "As Luke has pleaded guilty to the serious charge of GBH and we cannot condone criminal behaviour, we have met with Luke and his agent to explain that his contract with Emmerdale will be terminated." They added: "Luke regrets his behaviour and understands this situation." Tittensor was granted unconditional bail following last month's hearing and will appear before the court for sentencing next Wednesday. He could face up to five years in prison.

His career is proably in ruins now after this. However if they were desperate for Daz to return, they could always go with his twin brother. No trip to Spain for a head transplant needed!

Thats a good idea Alice.....They could swap between Emmerdale & Shameless
Now that Emmerdale producers have 'done the right thing' by axing him after being found guilty of GBH..Maybe they should also 'do the right thing' and re-instate Ben Freeman who hasn't been found guilty of anything

Good point Nick. The Emmerdale head honchos used Luke for important storylines, then when it was convenient for them, they sacked him. They knew for months what Luke had done, why didn`t they fire him then???

Someone asked on Teletext about replacing him with his twin. Probably get a new head at some point as usual.

Well, the matters with Ben Freeman are a bit more fuzzy and not so set in stone. To put it crudely, Luke kicked shit out of somebody and has pleaded guilty to it. Obviously they are going to sack him, but as you say Wendy, after what he did why he didn't get sacked sooner is quite bizaare. Considering Ben got the order of the boot before the verdicts were reached.

Another thing that puzzles me. If the writers and bosses condones violence, why did they have a storyline last year where Andy Sugden was a wife beater??? They only do things which is convenient for them. And to save money they got rid of Luke and used him for their own needs. Then they fired him when it was convenient for them.

I think the difference between Ben and Luke is time. No one knew how long Ben's trial would be or take. He cannot be on the payroll while not actually earning money indefinitely. Luke was guilty but no action was taken until now, but it's still far less time than Ben had to wait for anything to even begin.

Well, storyline purposes I suppose. There are abusive husbands out there. However, the actual storyline itself was very dull and it should have roused more feeling than it did. Most were sick of Jo so I doubt they fussed much. Its a shame Daz is going Luke was a capable young actor, and certainly most of his scenes with Victoria, he's been carrying her! So blatantly too. However, he kicked the crap out of some kid and now he has to face the consequences of what he did. Even if he was working in McDonalds he'd probably still get pushed. Like I say its a shame he didn't use his brain and restrain himself.

He should have been sacked, they could not have kept him there I did think about his twin brother, but not sure if that is still right or not.

The latest from DS
Ex-Emmerdale actor Luke Tittensor was today handed a two-year suspended sentence for causing grievous bodily harm.
The 19-year-old - who admitted to inflicting GBH on a 16-year-old in February last year - appeared at Bolton Crown Court this afternoon where he was sentenced to nine months in prison suspended for two years.
The sentence also included 200 hours' unpaid work with an order to pay £1,000 compensation and £1,100 costs.
The unnamed Rochdale teenager suffered a broken jaw in the incident and was forced to undergo corrective surgery.
Last week, ITV soap Emmerdale took the decision to axe Tittensor from the show due to the serious nature of the offence.
