Emmerdale actress Deena Payne has returned to filming with the show following her year-long break.
In 2007, the 54-year-old, who plays Viv Hope in the Yorkshire serial drama, announced her intention to take a 12-month break to spend more time with her family and concentrate on her charity.
Her exit storyline saw her screen counterpart Viv sentenced to a year's imprisonment after she pleaded guilty to conspiracy to defraud when conman Freddie Yorke (Keith Woodason) stole her charity money and left her to foot the blame.
However, the lives of her family and friends have moved on significantly since her departure, as her husband Bob's (Tony Audenshaw) financial crisis resulted in Brenda Walker (Lesley Dunlop) investing in the business, while he has also recently been struggling with his feelings for flatmate and co-worker Gennie Walker (Sian Reece-Williams).
Speaking of her return, Payne said: "The year off did just the trick. I have come back to lots of big hugs and smiley faces which makes it pretty much worth having had the time off. By my second scene it felt like I had never been away but had just gained loads of enthusiasm."
She added: "I am ready to handle whatever fantastic storylines are thrown at me."
Audenshaw added: "It's great to have Deena back. By our second scene together it felt like she had never been away, which is testament to her as an actress. Viv and Bob have some great scenes together coming up and I am really looking forward to getting stuck in."
Payne returned to filming last week and will make her screen comeback on July 14.
I'll be glad to see her back with her brand of craziness. ;D
