Phew!! Bloody hell, that got me going there, Jez.
So.... what am I going to do between 8pm and 8.30 pm on a Thursday evening?
In fact - what am I going to do at 7.30pm on a Wednesday evening?
I'm very old and set in my ways - this is all very confusing. Where's my tartan shopping trolley and ration book?

Bloody stupid. And they're STILL not seeing sense and cutting the number of eps back.

Read this elsewhere, and when I saw 'announcement about schedules' - I thought (naturally) - 'Woohoo - they're dropping an episode'. ;D ...'course when I'd finished the article, I realised my hopes had been cruelly dashed! Message to TPTB - what a completely pointless exercise - just have the b@@lls to admit there are too many episodes, bite the bullet, and be the first to chop one (preferably two) - I bet Emm and EE would soon follow suit.

I have decided there is no way they will ever cut an episode, because those programmes generate most revenue for the advertisers.

*sigh* So football wins again. Even when Corrie is on a Thursday I bet the schedule will be moved again to accomodate it. I`m a creature of habit, so rather than move Corrie to Thursday, I`d prefer it they dropped it all together - they may as well. It won`t be the same on Thursday and I bet there will be lots of people who forget.

I have decided there is no way they will ever cut an episode, because those programmes generate most revenue for the advertisers. Unfortuntely that is true. Unless the soaps lose a significant amount of viewers I doubt they will ever drop any episodes as they would struggle to find something that would get the simular viewers for the same slots. They have effectively made Mon/Thurs and Fri crammed with soaps between 7-9pm and the only nights with fewer soaps (Tues/Thurs) is when they have something that should pull in just as good ratings if not better, the footie! Nick get writing a complaint letter again! You are good at wording letters!

Here's the official ITV Press Release. I assume the 30 after all the names means 30 minutes?
(c) IITV Press Centre Coronation Street & Emmerdale new viewing schedule
08/07/2009
Make a date with Corrie and Emmerdale
Soap babes Michelle Keegan and Sammy Winward are urging viewers to make a date with Corrie and Emmerdale when the schedules for the two top shows change on July 23rd.
Thursday nights on ITV1 take on a whole new look from that date – with Corrie’s Wednesday episode moving on a day and Emmerdale screening two episodes on a Thursday night.
And two of the soaps’ sexiest stars became calendar girls to let viewers know about the big changes. Michelle who plays Tina Macintyre in Corrie and Sammy, Katie Sugden in Emmerdale joined forces for a special photoshoot to remind viewers to tune in on a Thursday.
To accommodate the two episodes being screened on a Thursday, Emmerdale’s Tuesday night hour long episode is replaced with a 30 minute episode. Whilst Coronation Street will move, from its previous 7.30pm slot on a Wednesday, to 8.30pm on Thursdays.
The volume of both soaps will remain the same as the table below shows, with 180 minutes of Emmerdale stripped across the week and 150 minutes of Coronation Street
The exciting new look is topped off with the new 9pm screening of The Bill.
An ITV spokesman said: “Coronation Street will make a move from Wednesday to Thursday nights on ITV1 from July 23 as part of a change to the schedule to reflect ITV’s contracts for the Champions League, FA Cup and England internationals, which will see ITV1’s live football broadcast on Wednesday evenings. In addition, two separate episodes of Emmerdale will be broadcast on Thursdays from the same date. We’re delighted that Thursday evenings on ITV1 will be a great showcase for soap from Weatherfield and the Woolpack.”
The new Thursday night schedule means that Soap fans have an episode of Emmerdale at 7pm and a second one at 8pm, followed by Coronation Street at 8.30pm.
The table below explains the new soap pattern from July 23rd.
Monday
7.00pm Emmerdale 30’ 7.30pm Coronation Street 30’ 8.30pm Coronation Street 30’
Tuesday
7.00pm Emmerdale 30’
Wednesday
7.00pm Emmerdale 30’
Thursday
7.00pm Emmerdale 30’ 8.00pm Emmerdale 30’ 8.30pm Coronation Street 30’
Friday
7.00pm Emmerdale 30’ 7.30pm Coronation Street 30’ 8.30pm Coronation Street 30’

Bored, bored, bored. It doesn't feel quite right to have a whole weekday evening without a single ep of Corrie or Eastenders

I think ITV have made a huge mistake. People will forget, ratings will fall.

mm it seems a long gap to go from Monday to Thursday...When they intoduced their Friday episode it was because they felt it was a long gap from Wednesday to Monday
At least tonight we had time to catch up on some of the films we have stored on our DVD recorder harddrive

I think its a one off because we missed 2 episodes for Football a few weeks back.
No doubt the other 'missing' episode will turn up sometime.

Coronation Street is on every week day next week, all single eps, probably has been rearranged around by I'm A Celebrity...

Thanks Pearly.
Its ridiculous that ITV continue to move Corrie around - there was a letter in one of the tv mags complaining about this. Espcially as its for that pile of tripe they are showing!
