From DS
Coronation Street actor Ryan Thomas has revealed his desire for his screen brother Bruno Langley to return to the ITV soap.
The 25-year-old - who plays Weatherfield builder Jason Grimshaw - has admitted to speaking with the show's leading producer Kim Crowther in the hope that she would consider a more permanent return for Langley's character Todd Grimshaw.
Though it was decided that current storylines would not allow for a comeback, Thomas, however, still holds out hope for a comeback.
Speaking exclusively to DS about a potential return for Todd, he said: "I really do hope so. We were just talking about that before. I did mention it to Kim [Crowther] at a meeting to see if there was any chance, but I just don't think the time's right for Todd to be back yet. But eventually, fingers crossed, he'll return."
Langley initially played the role of Todd between 2002 and 2004, during which time he became embroiled in a relationship with Sarah Platt (Tina O'Brien), who became pregnant by him with her second child. However, he soon became infatuated by Sarah's brother Nick Tilsley (Adam Rickitt). The pair shared what was Corrie's first ever gay kiss.
Todd later started seeing nurse Karl Foster (Chris Finch) behind Sarah's back. Having decided to accept his sexuality, Todd confessed his homosexual affair to a gobsmacked Sarah, who later suffered a placental abruption. Their son Billy was born prematurely and died within 24 hours of being born.
On discovering his brother Jason in bed with Sarah, Todd left Manchester to take up his place at Oxford University.
At the end of 2007, Langley returned to filming with the Weatherfield soap for a 12-episode stint covering his brother Jason's wedding to his ex-lover Sarah.
It was later reported that the soap's executive producer Kieran Robers was "very impressed" by Langley's brief reprisal and commented that the storyliners would be toying ideas for a full-time return.
Since his last appearance, Todd has been referred to in scripts by his brother and mother Eileen (Sue Cleaver).
I'd love to see him return as well.
