Hi I was looking to find some information out, and since i could not fill in their blasted form, I went looking in their FAQ's section and found the below Anyone else aware of this....?? Bit rough I thought, ok, I can understand them checking the gift before hand, but to disallow the star to keep the gift is a little much I thought?? Q: Can I send my favourite actor a gift? A: Unfortunately, it's EastEnders' policy not to allow the actors to keep gifts sent to them by fans, so please don't send presents. The cast often receive letters containing chocolate or CDs but these have to be sent back.

I didn't know that, Sharon. Surely it's up to the cast member what they do with them. They may want to donate things to charity or something.

Maybe the Beeb don't wanna employ someone just to open the post, and spend all day coping with dog poo, anthrax, strap-on sex toys and various other weird 'gifts' addressed to Ian Beale. I wonder if my love letters and frilly undies ever got through to Bradley? He has certainly never replied to show his gratitiude...

LOL The point being surely pearly queen, it is not up to the Beeb tp open their mail? Ok, fair enough to check its 'safe' or whatever, but surely other things should reach the recipient? After all its the viewer way of showing their appreciation of the actors work, and mostly I hear of the actor 'really touched and appreciate' the gift? I totally agree Patsy, I thnk I am going to select an actors agent and email them and see if THEY would actually let them have it?? I also know that the Beeb refuses anyone to sell their photos EVEN IF the person asks. I emailed Tv times y/day to ask about a photo in an old edition and politely asked if they sell them, and a lovely lady emailed me back and said 'Do you know what Sharon? EastEnders WILL NOT permit us to selll their photos even if they get some proceeds. I tried to email EE but when I wrote it in ALL ways my submission form was refused saying it was not 'in plain text' But yes I agree most actors are really pleased by gifts etc, as they know they are doin a good job, and like you say they may wishe to donate to charity?

I think Corrie is filtered too. I know they did for the likes of Tina O'Brien and Nikki Sanderson because of weirdos. It's silly really that someone is reading a private letter, gifts included or not. Good luck with the agent.

Patsy Yes it is like that with Corrie because Tina O Brien had that wierdo after her I got an agent, and emailed them and they nicely emailed back. I told them what EastEnders said and asked if THEY did allow their actors to recieve parcels gifts etc, as I thought it was unfair of EE to do that. WHilst I totally understand someone checking the mail first for the star I think the star SHOULD be allowed to keep the gift etc. Anyway, she emailed me and said she completely agreed and all they do - for obvious reasons - is to check the contents of what is sent, ie gift THEN they forward it all on to the star in question. So at least they do it properly.

That really does sound a decent way to do things. Glad they were helpful to you and good luck sending whatever it is via the agent. Patsy

SHe did agree with me over what I said in Regards to EE and she said, all they wanted was for the public to send the right amount to cover THEM sending it onto the star themself. BUT they would do it, only thing was they would check but other than that, it was completely up to the star then what they decided to do with the gift, but she did agree they usually kept the gift as the 'fan' was appreciative enough to send it, and they appreciated it. I will let you know of any reply ok? PS did I also mention that I also asked er a magazine it was if they would sell the photos they publish of the EE stars in their magazine. They replied 'Hi Sharon sorry we would be delighted to share them with you but EE refuses us permission' What is wrong with them? ?

The Beeb could make some money by selling photos. I just don't know what goes on in their heads. But then I suppose ITV etc are the same.

Patsy Well thats what I thought, and told her, that if mags - like glossy ones sell lovely pics of their fav stars, and lets face it glossies like Ok and Hello have gorgeous pics, EE could make a small fortune out of the proceeds if they charged a percentage of what the mags sell? I dont get them either
