EastEnders star Samantha Janus is in shock after her father was found hanged at his Brighton flat on Saturday.
The 36-year-old actress was visibly distraught as she visited the apartment on Sunday, with her husband Mark Womack, to collect her father Noel's belongings.
The 60 year old former song-writer is believed to have committed suicide after a long battle with depression. His body was discovered by a neighbour on Saturday afternoon. Noel Janus' sister Angie is the ex-wife of late football legend George Best.
Another neighbour, John Austin, tells the Daily Mirror newspaper, "As far as we know he hanged himself. He was a nice chap and I got on with him. I saw him coming back with his dog on Friday evening. He seemed quite bright."
The actress' husband admits his partner is too upset to talk about the tragedy, urging the media to respect her privacy during this time.
He says, "She asks to be left alone to grieve with her family."
