Yawn. Emm was always trailing EE and Corrie in the ratings (except for the occasional one-off), so nothing new there, and not something that's ever likely to change until there are major shake-ups and improvements in quality. I'd much prefer it if it went back to it's roots, and got away from all the sensational/scandalous/highly improbable stuff. ...but then that's just me being an old fart and remembering Emmerdale Farm with great affection because it was different from run-of-the-mill soaps.

That makes me an old fart too then. I remember my mum watching it at 1.30pm (Crown Court the other days). I remember hating Christine Sugden with a passion for leaving Joe. I remember my mum picking me up from a friend's house the day of Matt and Dolly's wedding but we left afterwards because her mum watched it too. Those were the days! Patsy

I think the trouble is these days ( and it's the same with most soaps ) it is no longer character driven and more sensation driven. Which means storylines get more and more far fetched.
I remember the good old days of Emmerdale Farm, Crown Court...and General Hospital.

Didn`t Emmerdale Farm used to be on Sunday at one time when it first started? I seem to recall eating Sunday tea whilst watching it before or after Stars on Sunday came on. My memory isn`t what it used to be though - maybe it was on in the week when we were on our summer holidays.

Maybe it was on HTV. I remember it being 7pm when Matt and Dolly married because I went to my friend's after school. Yet any info puts it moving to that time in the 80s. Regions varied. Look at Crossroads. London was 6pm I think while Southern 5.20pm and it was different days.

I seem to remember it was Emmerdale Farm Mon & Tues 1.30
Crown Court Tue,Wed,Thur 2pm
And General Hospital Thur & Fri 1.30pm
Then when EF & GH finished for their end of series runs you had things like Marked Personell,Harriets Back In Town,The Cedar Tree & Rooms filling the gaps.
Mind you I'm sure over the years they will have tinkered with the days and times

They did and it varied region by region. I have a book about Euston Films which has ratings up to 1985. It's amazing what was show which days and times. Only the news and Corrie really seemed a constant.
