Today we had an Apple Day at our local community centre and in the surrounding area
We were donated 6 apple trees a fig tree and an apricot tree from a local Sussex charity so we thought we would combine the day with fun for all the family..we had a clown for the kids..art,bric a brac & cake stalls and the painting of a 'muriel' on the outside wall of the centre,we also had a chef making apple pancakes and a bloke with a bycicle that was combined with a juicer, you put all your fruit in the blender and peddled and it juiced your fruit !!.
Our star guest was Patsy Palmer...and what a lovely lass she was too..she planted one of the trees and painted an apple on the 'muriel'
Me & Geoff shook her hand introduced ourselvesand told her what an excellent episode the live one was (creeps lol).
We tried to get Peter Andre too,but he said he was on tour but would have loved to have come so he gave us a signed CD for our raffle (which Geoff won) !!
Geoff & I were also part of the choir,we did 3 songs..One was called 'The Apple Song' we also did an African song called Bamba Niay and Da Do Ron Ron..the last 2 were in a 3 part harmony
And the most important the weather held out and it was like a spring day ;D
Pictures to follow

Great pics, Nick.
A propos the muriel - years and years ago, about 1975 a local estate was treated to a muriel painted by a celebrity. We were on a caravan holiday at the time, and saw it on the news: Rolf Harris painted a big picture on a wall in Barnfield Gardens, Plumstead and it was the biggest thing that had ever happened to Plumstead, EVER. Shame we missed it!

Great pics, Nick. I see what you mean about it being like a spring day. Patsy Palmer looks nice and happy to be there. Digital camera? I hate them for catching movement so it's blurry. Film was better for that but ONLY that. So when's your next foray with the stars?

Thats a great 'Muriel'..ours isn't quite that arty lol....mind you it was done by local residents & children That`s what makes your communitys mural so wonderful Nick. Because the kids and adults cared enough about their community t do something about prettying it up with lots of diferent styles and tastes. The WV mural was done by a local artist which was just his style and no one elses input. Pretty yes, but it lost the feeling of community spirit along the way.

Yours looks good and much better than a blank wall..all credit to the artist Some of the nicest murals I have seen were in Avignon in France on the side of shops and on houses etc..some were views and they were so realistic and others were painted windows with people looking out of them..all very good I have just noticed..on that pic of Geoff,Patsy & Me in the background you can see a dog with its head out of a window...that dog spends hours sitting on the window ledge looking out lol March 21st is our next choir performance..there is an art festival or something and we are singing in the newly refurbished bandstand on Brighton prom
