From DSCoronation Street legend Blanche Hunt is to make a number of humorous jibes about her family and friends from beyond the grave, it has been revealed. The battleaxe is to make her final put-downs when her last will and testament is read out on screen later this year, The Mirror reports. It is thought that Blanche will have the last laugh on newsagent Norris Cole (Malcolm Hebden) by making him believe that he will inherit something - only to reveal that she merely wants to cancel her subscription to Crossword Monthly. She is also expected to insult barmaid Betty Williams (Betty Driver) by declaring that she wants Elliot pies at her funeral and "definitely none of those terrible Betty's Hotpots". Meanwhile, Blanche's son-in-law Ken Barlow (Bill Roache) also fails to escape her acid tongue as she complains that "he'll try to bury me on the cheap". Blanche will get an on-screen send-off in May after passing away. In real life, Maggie Jones - who played the Weatherfield favourite from 1974 - died in December following a period of ill health. It wouldn't be Blanche if she didn't have the last word. ;D

Wasn't sure if this had already been posted - seem to be a lot of separate Blanche/Maggie threads...
From DS:-
'Hudd returns to Corrie for Blanche's funeral
Tuesday, March 2 2010, 15:01 GMT
Actor Roy Hudd is to reprise his Coronation Street role as Archie Shuttlleworth for Blanche Hunt's funeral.
The 73-year-old, who played Archie the undertaker for sporadic stints between 2002 and 2006, returns to filming at the Weatherfield soap in a fortnight's time for two episodes to air in May.
In 2002, Blanche briefly dated Archie but their romance soon came to an end. She went on to romance wealthy OAP Wally Bannister (Bernard Cribbins).
The double episode will commemorate the late Maggie Jones's career with Coronation Street. At the end of last year, Jones died at the age of 75 after a long battle with illness.
Last week, the cast of Coronation Street celebrated their co-star's life at a memorial service held at Salford Cathedral.'

How nice of them to commemorate all her years there and him to return.

It appears June Whitfield is also coming in as Blanche's friend May.
