From DS
Coronation Street producers have decided to recast the character of Amy Barlow for the fifth time.
Amber Chadwick, who played the Weatherfield youngster for almost four years, has been replaced by another actress, named Elle Mulvaney, according to The Sun.
The decision ties in with the return of Amy's twisted mother Tracy (Kate Ford), who is currently serving a 15-year prison sentence for the murder of lover Charlie Stubbs. It is thought that the show's chiefs felt the plot required "a really good little actress" in the role of Amy.
A source said: "Amber was lovely but Elle is a very natural little actress."
As well as Chadwick, the part of Amy has previously been played by Holly Bower, Rebecca Pike, Louisa Morris and Madison Hampson.
Tracy will be seen on screen in May for the funeral of her grandmother Blanche before making a full-time Weatherfield comeback towards the end of the year.
Thank goodness, maybe we can have one that can walk and talk at the same time. Could we please have one that has the acting capabilities of young Alex.

They blame Amber for being dreadful, if you read the full article, but any actor can only respond to what they're given by the writers. Look at the difference between Belle 1 and Belle 2 in Emmerdale. Belle 1 got bog all when they recast. Ditto Nicky Tilsley and Sarah Platt before recasting. In EE, Tiffany, Whitney and Liam get all the dialogue while Morgan has the occasional word. It's the writers, like everything.

While the writer's may be to blame, she really wasn't very convincing even when she did have a line or two. The only saving grace was that she DID resemble Kate Ford..poor kid

LOL! There was a thought she was related to Jacqueline Chadwick (Linda Baldwin) because Jacqui apparently now runs a drama school for kids.

Its the same with Rosie and Sophie - and David for that matter. The original actors had nothing to do, it was only once they recast they got storylines.
