Last night here on the BBC America channel they had the new Dr Who Hubby said it was brilliant because there were references about the past Doctors.

Another enjoyable episode, tho' the planes attacking the spaceship was straight out of 'Independence Day' (no bad thing I s'pose as I love that movie ;D).
I'm still not sure I like the 'complete story in one episode' way of doing things tho'; I feel it makes things seem very rushed.
Overall all the changes have been for the better. Even my wife, who was a big DT fan, is now admitting to liking Matt Smith in the role!

I think we are all agreed that speading the story over 3 or 4 thirty minute episodes would be better and you could have good cliffhangers
One small error was the Union flags on the Spitfires..they didn't have flags on the planes just those red, white and blue circles.
All in all I really like the new Doc

We care, Nick. It works better. Looking forward though to how they manage a two-parter. We know under RTD the cliffhanger went on AGES when the whole point was bam - credits roll.
Maybe there should be a facebook group to drop the 'Next Time' bit. LOL!
I have a feeling they'll reckon the drop in ratings is due to the new Doctor. Week 2 had football and now BGT so they need to move the time. I'm getting an 80s feeling here.

I REALLY wish they'd axe that 'Next Time' bit. Putting at the end of the credits still spoils it. Great cliffhanger (though a bit feeble it at least didn't drag on and on and on as under RTD). But then we see they've escaped and what happens next. Why would anyone tune in if they know what happens?
Anyway it was a really good story but I was hoping River Song was the Rani or something and Steven Moffatt will reverse the 'last of the Time Lords' bollocks. I'm still enjoying this series and glad I gave it a final shot.

Loved the weeping angels, just as scary this time around.
As regards the 'next time' bit, do what I do Patsy....as soon as the end music starts, whip over to BBC2 for a couple of seconds.
Nice of them to explain that dreadful noise the TARDIS makes. ;D

Very good..I enjoyed it...BUT I have complained to the BBC and to Points of View..here is my email
Dear POV/BBC I wish to complain about the advertising logo's which pop up at the end of programmes telling you what is coming next. Last nights Doctor Who was the last straw...Imagine the scene..you are sat watching the climax of the first part of a two part story, the Doctor is just thinking of a way to escape the Weeping Angels..and what happens..just what you need..a cartoon Graham Norton across the bottom of the screen advertising 'Over The Rainbow' which is coming on next..and to add insult to injury then the announcer tells you again over the end credits not 30 seconds later. The audience hate these logo's..we know what is coming on next..we are NOT idiots..please tell the powers that be to listen to the viewers for once and kick these irritating logo's into touch Thanks
I wonder if they will take any notice?

Oh blimey yes, Nick. I'd forgotten all about that. It ruined it completely. I very much doubt they will take notice. People complained about squashed credits and they carried on. People complained about that before and they carried on. It's really going American over here and I hate it.
Sooty, I usually turn it off but that that moment the remote wasn't handy. Still hate it.

Anther good episode - even had C hiding behind a cushion once or twice! Totally agree about the 'what's coming next' banners - bloody annoying and completely unnecessary. Can't remember which channel came up first with this gem of an idea (ITV? CH4?). Whatever...it now seems virtually every other channel is following suit.

I see thousands have complained about that. It was Americans because they have the 1 second attention span they all reckon we do. I think C4 started it here though or 5. ITV shrunk credits I think. The BBC is paid for by US so should do as it's told.
Really enjoying this series. Paul and Sooty must be shocked each week I've praised instead of slagged. LOL! This is what it really needed. RTD's tenure was going the way of JNT with ego and gimmicks getting in the way of sensible stories.

heres the reply I received today
Thank you for your e-mail.
The 'Over the Rainbow' trail in 'Doctor Who' should not have played out on Saturday and we apologise to all 'Doctor Who' fans whose enjoyment of the show was disrupted. We recognise the strength of feeling that has been expressed and are taking steps to ensure that this mistake will not happen again.
Thank you again for taking the time to contact us with your concerns.

REALLY pissed off with the 'Next Time' bit now. You get engrossed then 'Next Time' flashes on the screen. GET RID OF IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Liking Matt Smith more and more and the combination of him and Amy. As Nick said after the first ep, it's like the old style of Doctor and companion split up. In just a few eps we've had sod all family, sod all snogging, sod all lurve and a planet! Today's session de snog was clearly Amy under some sort of possession and I was really glad the Doctor rejected her advances and realised she's the key to it all. Bit like Ace. RTD wouldn't have them at it there and then! I love how he isn't pining for Rose the way Tennant's did. But who is River Song? I'm still thinking Rani or something of that ilk.
I'm seriously considering buying the DVDs of this series. I gave up during series 2. But this stuff I wouldn't mind watching again and again.

Great episode..again. I really look forward to it now and watch it live instead of Sky+ing it last I used to. I was quick enough to miss the 'next time' bit again ;D I'm sure when River Song was in it before they said she was the Doctors future wife ( I'm most probably wrong though ) I do think Matt and Karen are terrific though.

I remember Amy guessing River was his wife but she was non-committal with the answer.

We have just watched it after recording it last night
Yes I enjoyed it..I am really warming to Matts quirky nature as the Doc..
The trouble with the 'next time' bit (apart from the obvious annoyningness of it) is that you don't get the bit at the end where the theme tune comes in after they have said a key line to take you into the next episode

He is brilliant, isn't he? The writing and delivery works too. On facebook, a friend of my friend Jo said he was good but no Tennant. I think we can be grateful for that! This is the kick up the bum the show needed after the RTD ego trip.
Even on cliffhangers, you get the damn trailer before the BBC Wales bit. If you're taping it to keep and don't want it ruined they screw that up for you.
I haven't looked forward to the next ep since Tom Baker's tenure. Keep it up! I think next year they need to start before Simon Cowell's cynical money-making ploy.

lots of influences...Jaws,Carry on... and a Hammer film called the Brides of Dracula
'The Next time' bit does spoilt it though

Yes, another good one (filmed in beautiful Croatia I see).
Only slight reservation is Amy's BF - Rory? Thought he was a bit 'pantomime-y'.

Was really peeved SM's now gone down the RTD road of family/boyfriends. Though Rory was at least funny. Hope he's not permanent.
Right so let me get this straight. People complained about the ep going by the trailer last week, claiming it was too scary. Reality was? Not scary at all, unless you count the CGI.
This one I wasn't keen on though did still enjoy. LOVED the library card with William Hartnell's pic on. This is what makes it feel like real Who rather than a different programme with the same name and ignoring the illustrious past as RTD had.
Yes the 'Next Time' bit is a pain.
