I like their characters too. So if Ashley moves away, what will happens to Grahams job at the butchers? To be honest, I figured the writing was on the wall for their departure when they had the house swapping with the Websters storyline a few years ago.

I've liked their characters too, but they haven't done much of any importance lately, and as the pruducer quite rightly says, people do come and go in any community, so I think it's perfectly acceptable for them to leave.
However, does it really have to be under dramatic circumstances? This seems to be the norm now - why can't they just move house, or move for other personal reasons, as the majority of people would IRL?
On similar topic, are Molly and Tyrone leaving too?

it will be a shame,I like Claire & Ashley, they seem to be one of the few 'normal' families but they seem to have been pushed into the background along with a lot of other characters to make way for endless storylines for other 'favourite' characters.

I must admit I probably won't notice them gone....but that is the fault of the writers for being incapable of coming up with decent storylines anymore, that said, people do come and go. Some characters do seem to hog the screen though and we all know who they are !
As regards Molly and Tyrone, I doubt they will be going.....I had high hopes Molly might go, but unfortunately she survived the crash.

According to the People they complained about the lack of dramatic storylines and he axed them because he won't put up with temperamental stars. What is it with these people? Corrie and other dramas of old just DID things. It was all in the writing and not the sensationalism and that's what made it enjoyable. Now it's repetitive crap we've seen a zillion times before. Used to be rotation who got the biggie. With so many cast course others have less to do. They should be glad they have such a well paid job doing sod all.

Part of their leaving is sloppy and lazy writing. So what if they don`t have the most dramatic storylines? It`s hardly 'Ashley and Claire`s' fault that they don`t get the meaty storylines - it`s the producers fault. That was so special about Corries magic for years - there didn`t have to be murders/affairs/deaths for Corrie to have great storylines. Some of the best storylines have had just ordinary day to day storylines we could identify with. That`s what made Corrie so great all these years - along with great writing and Producers. I see prawns Producer friend is already wielding his axe. I can think of other characters he can get rid of before Ashley and Claire...... Fiz/John/Chesney to name just 3.

It's also too many eps, too many characters, too many crap storylines and trying to outdo each other (sadly started with EE when it copied Brookie and Corrie).

The Peacocks do nothing for me, and I won't notice their absence. The only time Ashley, I say Ashley, was remotely interesting was when Fred was around, and he was just about passably acceptably watchable when Maxine was around. Other than that it's just been 'Pound of sausages, missus?' and "I've got a low sperm count and a funny voice'. They tried to make Claire a bit more edgy with her half-hearted friendship with Bonkers Becky, but that didn't really work out. Personally I don't think they're saveable, so they might as well cut out the dead wood and start with new faces.
