Well not a Damehood like we wanted for Barbara. But how long since we started the campaign to get her an Honour??? Is it a coincidence as soon as Labour are out, she gets something or are they just giving them to anyone not dead?
Congrats Barbara and Eileen!

Not before time! Both Barbara and Eileen have given more than 35 years of their lives to Corrie and deserve this!

Congrats to both. I would have loved to have witnessed the conversation between the Queen and Eileen/Barb. The Queen is a big fan of Corrie isn`t she - as was the beloved Queen Mum

Ok - this isn't going to make me very popular, but I don't care.
WTF is an MBE and why?
Why are 'Honours' dished out to the chosen few? Personally I don't agree with it, certainly not for 'luvvies' anyway, it's just a big ego boost. There are enough film and tv industry awards - BAFTAs, Oscars etc for actors as it is. Not to mention fame, fortune, lifestyle, book deals, immortality on the screen. Don't these people get patted on the head enough as it is?
Lots of people work excellently well within the same industry for decades, with no recognition, and do not seek recognition or glory for it.
Acting is only a job, same as any other. If you're doing well in your work, and have the respect and support of your colleagues and managers, then no 'Honours' are required.
Nothing personal - both great actresses who have had great careers, entertaining us all, and who have won many fans down the decades, but no more deserving than any other hard workers.
And as for Barbara looking like she's lost weight: OMG, she is absolutely drowning in that coat. Not good, not good at all.

People like them get them because they're not dead. Mind you, Brucie has something I think despite these demands. Bill Roache got it for Corrie. I don't really mind so much if these celebs have DONE something, even charitable. But sometimes, like Tim Henman for failing, is a bad thing. Eileen agrees with you! www.youtube.com/watch?v=jStIM-actHg Her arms, ankles, turkey neck. You only wear baggy clothes to hide things. She was so fat so long she's hiding something not to wear normal clothes. Patsy

Excellent clip Patsy , they've obviously both had a great day and feel chuffed with themselves. Barbara is a lot posher than Reet! And I think she'd had a few coffees, the way she was jabbering on!
Like I said, nothing personal - I don't begrudge them any well-wishing or awards that they have earned, I just don't see why it's a medal/title which apparently has the full force of The British Empire behind it, and all the associations that brings up.

She's lost that sparkle though. Yes she was making jokes but it wasn't a patch on her humour in the past. Rare for Eileen to even deign to speak! I thought they meant something different these days for Celebs: Crawling Big 'Ead Mega Big 'Ead Old Big 'Ead

Do agree with you about award selection - they seem to dish them out like sweets, which completely devalues them IMO.
