Michael Troughton looking a bit like his dad at times. Pity he got killed off but high time he appeared in the show like his brother had. It was a bit weird but meant to be I suppose.

I can see their point in a way. It hasn't gripped me like it used to. I tend to zone out a bit at times.

The Danny Pink stuff was pointless. They need to get away from relationships and family and return it to how it used to be - friends seeing all time and space together.

It does sometimes seem like I've missed something with new Dr. Who, but have either shrugged it off as my not paying quite enough attention amidst the jumpy pace, or because maybe the station showing it here bloody cut something to fit in more ads. But I think maybe it's as often a case like Ghost Light, the old Sylvester McCoy story that had been so streamlined that even if it all added up in the script boiled down to under 70 minutes it got confusing despite great actors and a usually solid director. I mean Shada was easier to follow than that particular story and Kinda entirely straight forward in comparison. I think sometimes what does happen is the producer will read a script, sense there is a lot to it but instead of saying they don't catch it all and risk looking dull they pretend they entirely followed things. I doubt Barry Letts would ever have done that. I think someone has simply missed the chance to have some scripts reworked until they do add up properly, like a good editor of fiction knows this often leads a writer to meeting the challenge in unexpected and creative ways and we all win.
I'd love to get all nerdy about the new Doctor Who but to be honest I expect I will just watch them once and don't care if I ever have any extras about them to read or watch, excepting the first season with Chris Eccleston (and wasn't that very first story partly Spearhead From Space revisited?) I honestly don't think they stand up like they should, and it's the fault of always going for the gosh wow visual idea even if it undermines the overall story telling. I think some very different companions might be in order as to me they've all been Ace/Rose types so far since the 2005 reboot. I would have loved to have had a Paul McGann series with the Asian punk kid and a smart heart-surgeon woman as companions!

I noticed that too, sillybint. The Autons were completely wasted in the first episode. It's like the McGann film being a cross between Spearhead From Space (hospital after regeneration), The Deadly Assassin (opening the Eye of Harmony) and The Keeper of Traken (Master bodysnatching except in the former it ended up being poor Tremas after the Doctor escaped).
