Coronation Street star Alan Halsall and wife Lucy-Jo Hudson have welcomed a baby girl. They became parents this morning (September 7) and mother and baby are now resting at home. The actor tweeted: "Lucy-Jo & I are delighted to announce the arrival of our little girl born this morning. Mother & baby are home with a very proud Father. "Welcome #babyhalsall," he added. He was congratulated by a number of his co-stars on the ITV soap, including Paula Lane, Beverley Callard and Jennie McAlpine. Former co-star and Strictly Come Dancing contestant Natalie Gumede also tweeted her well wishes to Halsall and Hudson. Halsall recently revealed that he made Hudson take five pregnancy tests to confirm they were really expecting a child. They added that they were surprised at how quickly they conceived after deciding to start a family. Meanwhile, Halsall admitted that he is saddened his late co-star Bill Tarmey is not alive to meet the couple's child. He said: "I know he would be thrilled. He'd be buzzing. It's a shame he'll never get to meet our little girl." Congratulations to the new family

Congratulations to Alan and Lucy. He'll be able to take some time off to spend with the new baby, since Tyrone's got precious little to do in Corrie at the moment - what with both Kevin AND Tommy being absent

Thanks PQ. I would really love a grand daughter, but a grandson would be fine too...someone to carry on the family name.
