Simply mesmerizing.
Have now seen the first two (of eight) episodes.
Great writing, top-flight acting from the whole cast, and some nice local scenery - much of it shot in West Bay, which is not far from us.
I know some of you have grown weary of murder mysteries, and generally I'd agree with you, but this really is a bit special.
10/10 so far

We are glued to it too. The scenery is also worth a mention. That chocolate Lab that Pauline Quirke's character has is her own dog. I believe the cast didn't find out 'whodunnit' till they received the script for the last episode.

Am quite enjoying this..there have been complaints that it's too slow and drawn out !!..but I disagree..with a slower pace the writers have time to develop the plot and the viewer has time to feel empathy for the characters
The only thing that does irritate me is that all the TV detectives seem to have some secret angst!! why can't we have a happy detective?

Very sad last night when Jack Marshall killed himself, especially after he'd told Mark Latimer why he REALLY ended up in prison.
I had a feeling that would be the case - he was just too obvious a target.
DS Ellie Miller's son clearly knows more than he's letting on,and Pauline Quirke's character is/was up to no good with the business partner of the dead boy's father.
Broadchurch continues to impress; tremendous 'feel' to it. Very real, but at the same time very dream-like.

It was so obvious is wasn't going to be Jack. I hope that rent-a-mob feel guilty.
I still haven't a clue who the murderer is, my mind changes with every episode...great stuff.

it's getting on my nerves now
A detective that keeps collapsing....a dark 'atmospheric' semi lit incident room
If they had found DNA on the boat as stated in earlier epsidoes why wasn't everyone without an alibi DNA tested rather than waiting for last nights epsiode with the vicar.
How come the reporters seem to be doing all the detective work..whereas the detectives seem to stare longingly at the sea
And would you really, in the middle of a vital police chase with the possible murderer, stop to see who is ringing your mobile?
it's getting very silly

I agree Nick, there is too many episode's,and they are dragging the storyline on too long.

I don't agree - I think the slow pace is what makes it absorbing and convincing.

I do like dramas at a slower pace as a rule, it gives the characters time to develop..but this seems to be slowing down to a stop lol..I shall stick with it though if only to see whodunnit

All I'm worried about at the moment is the fate of the Dog.

I was also surprised when the killer was revealed,I thought it might have been Tom Miller the cops son.

We guessed it was him from epsidoe three...he was the only character who didn't seem to have a back story or play a major part in the plot

We hadn't suspected him at all, but it made for a great final episode.
Only just watched it, so have been avoiding this thread all day.
BTW, a second series has already been commissioned, and will start production in 2014.

Terrific final episode for series two. I believe there will be a third series.

Really don't understand why this second series got so much stick in the press - we enjoyed it just as much as the first.
Ignoring the fact that he was acquitted while everyone thought he was guilty as hell, I'm still not totally convinced that Ellie's husband DID do it.
Maybe more evidence will come to light in Series 3?
