I`m really enjoying watching this again. I never was much of a fan of crime shows, but when C&L first started I was hooked on it because it was nothing like other crime shows I ever watched before. I can remember when the show was in danger of being cancelled, and I wrote a letter to NY begging to keep it on the air. One of the British newspapers had the address asking fans to keep it on the air. I`d like to think I helped to keep it on the air.

Yes, that was a huge favorite of mine back in the day. I also liked St. Elsewhere and China Beach. Tyne Daly was later on Judging Amy which I know some people really liked but I never caught it much. Apparently it ended with storylines unresolved anyway.

Always loved Cagney and Lacey, also St Elsewhere, never watched China Beach though.
I am a big fan of The Walking Dead....I have learnt so many ways to dispatch Zombies. ;D

Another fan of St Elsewhere here. The final episode was groundbreaking in its day. I never saw China Beach, it didn`t appeal to me. I did watch some episodes of Judging Amy, but with it being on lunchtimes here, it was an inconvenient time for me to watch it.

SillyBint...did you ever get to watch 'Any Day Now' on Lifetime? I absolutely loved that show. I remember when Lifetime has a sister channel...Lifetime movies or something like that and 'Any Day Now' was repeated daily. Sadly that channel was abruptly cancelled and I never got to see that show again. Every 6 months or so I email Lifetime to ask if they will put ADN on DVD but I never get a reply.

I used to fancy 'Marcus Petrie' like mad. I still do. I really don`t know why Carl Lumley didn`t get into the movie business after C&L finished - he is such a great actor. And given the right agent he could`ve been as big as Denzil Washington. (who I also like)

I sort of remember the title Any Day Now, but I can't remember ever watching it.
China Beach was sort of somewhere between St. Elsewhere and Hill Street Blues I suppose, or later M*A*S*H.

China Beach is another show that was shown in the afternoons that I never got the chance to see. I think that was on Lifetime too. I just checked to see if China Beach was available at Netflix to watch/rent. Season 1 is listed but in the 'save' section. I hope it will be available soon as i`d like to watch it now that you`ve piqued my interest in it when you said it was like St Elsewhere/M*A*S*H and HSB sillybint

I sort of remember the title Any Day Now, but I can't remember ever watching it. China Beach was sort of somewhere between St. Elsewhere and Hill Street Blues I suppose, or later M*A*S*H. sb.... Any Day Now was set in Alabama, and was about 2 best friends (Mary Elizabeth was white and her best friend Rene was black)growing up during the turbulent 60`s til the present day. It was remarkable because in the present day scenes when they were older, whatever problems they had were similar to the problems in the 1960`s. And in flashbacks it was filmed in black and white with a splash of colour maybe in a dress, or some flowers, or a picture on a wall. It was an excellent series. Annie Potts starred in it as an older Mary Ellizabeth. Mary Elizabeth had an uncle who was in the KKK, he was evil pig. Rene`s Father was an attorney and worked with MLK Jr. I would really love to see the show again, but not sure if it would ever be on DVD as there was a lot of music from the 60`s that are probably too expensive to get the copyrights for them.
