From DS
Coronation Street star Stephanie Cole has left the soap.
The actress, who plays Roy Cropper's no-nonsense mother Sylvia Goodwin, recently filmed her character's departure.
Sylvia's exit scenes will air on screen this month, forming part of her daughter-in-law Hayley's cancer storyline, according to The Sun.
Writing on Twitter today (August 2), a Coronation Street spokesperson confirmed that Cole has finished filming "for the time being".
Cole was cast in Coronation Street in December 2010 and made her first appearance as Sylvia the following April.
Her major storylines have included bonding with Roy, facing up to the truth of Hayley's past, and finding love with wealthy Milton Fanshaw.
More recently, Sylvia has been supporting the Croppers following Hayley's pancreatic cancer diagnosis.
I'm really sad at this, why are the decent characters leaving and we get left with the rubbish that is Rob, Tracy, Sean and Sophie

I have just read an interview with the actress in which she said she never will be returning. I think we probably guessed that as she had wann't involved in Hayley's exit.!

Such a shame,I will miss Sylvia. I wish they never cast Stephanie Cole as Roys Mother. Someone lesser known would have jumped at the chance to play Sylvia especially with the harrowing Hayley cancer storyline. Although to be fair Stephanie left suddenly when her brother died.
