They'll probably make an example of her. This is one Corrie actor in the dock where the prosecutors have actual evidence and witnesses this time - they might throw the book at her. After all - she and or her daughter might have driven under the influence many times, but just never got caught until now. It's unacceptable behaviour for anybody - but for someone who can afford to pay for executive posh cars everywhere, it's disgusting.

Oh to be a fly on the wall in the Granada offices. I'd love to have been one at the police station. Patsy

I think the decision to move to Media City has cursed Corrie. Who will be up in court or caught doing naughties next? As I'll be away, can articles and any possible photos of her at court be linked please? My phone bill will be high that day as I keep checking here, FB and Twitter for the sentence. Patsy

I do get pissed off with this "personal and private matter" bollocks from Granada. Would it be if she'd hit someone? Every one of their employees should be treated equally, whether it's the bog cleaner or big head.

I loathe drunk drivers, and Barbara is the worst of them because she could afford to pay for a taxi, and also pay to hire a driver. At 80 years old she should give up driving anyway, the old soak.

Thanks, Wend. I asked my dad to pick up a paper today since he failed to get the Mirror last month when she was front page news. He got the Sun, which has a teary eyed pic on the front page.

This was the start of a discussion I had with a FB friend on his status last night: Nick Lewis Odd, no mention of this on Granada Reports. 12 hours ago · Like Patricia Dempsey Hmm, wonder why? I'm away when she's hopefully banged up (I can dream!!!) so will be constantly checking for the verdict. Book + wig = CONTACT! 12 hours ago · Like · 1

3 days to go! Before I went away, I was reading comments on DS saying Reet drink and drove! Course they think it's recent and wondered why she wasn't suspended. Der!

What is that woman on??? "Manhandled by police" indeed. All the silly cow had to do was plead guilty since she WAS over the limit. Now she's going to flipping trial. For someone so private she isn't half making sure she gets lots of publicity.

The Granada bosses treat her like Royalty. She`ll get a slap on the wrist from the judge, and a gentle pat on the hand from Granada. She`s not going anywhere.

She was over the limit yet pleaded not guilty. It's digraceful she isn't taking responsibility for her own drunken driving actions. She's 80 years old, not a spoilt kid.

I hope her drivers licence is revoked. She can afford to fork out for a driver or a taxi. I can`t see her using her bus pass to go go to work though. I hope the judge insists on it.

I reckon that lawyer she's got will get her off (They don't call him Nick 'Loophole' for nothing.)

Well he'll certainly get his money's worth going to trial where lots of private things may come out. Doesn't he like her or something?

Adjourned til October 6th? That wouldn`t happen to the Joe Bloggs of this world. A fine, points on licence, banned from driving at the very least. It`s good to be Queen eh Barb

He really is stringing this out. A simple "Guilty" like her daughter and it would be done.

According to Digital Spy, she has pleaded guilty, coped a £3000 fine and a 12 month driving ban. The thing is if she had pleaded guilty at the time her driving ban would be nearly over...silly woman.

I was just about the post this but you beat me to it, Sooty. www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-30950156High time she admitted it. Stupid cow. I do wonder if Anne Kirkbride's death had anything to do with her change of mind. Life is far too short after all.

That sounds a fitting punishment, the judge was very fair. The sad thing is...if Barbara had paid for a taxi to collect her daughter from the police station last year, none of this would have happened. At least now there`s one less drunk driver on the road for a year. Maybe Barb will enjoy being chauffeured around so much, she`ll give up her drivers licence completely.

Two. Don't forget her daughter was given a 2 year ban and she pleaded guilty from the start.
