The ratings decline is all Stuart Blackburns fault. Hopefully this will be the end of the worst producer in Corrie history.

Best thing that happened to Emmerdale was when Sturt Blackburn jumped ship to Corrie. Worst thing that happened to Corrie was when Stuart Blackburn arrived from Emmerdale !

The reason ratings are dropping is that people have finally started to wake up to the fact that soaps are total cr@p.
Where are the simple stories about day-to-day living, laced with humour, sadness, and OCCASIONAL melodrama?
You were actually able to immerse yourselves in their scenarios and relate to the characters.
The storylines now are so far removed from reality and the characters so unpleasant, that there is absolutely zero connection with them.
In their endless quest to out-do each other with sensational stories and high drama, they're actually just making things worse and worse and making the whole soap genre a complete (unintentional) laughing-stock.
You only have to look at the Digitalspy spoiler headlines for the coming days to sum the whole problem up.
Personally I hope the viewing figures continue to fall, until such a point that TPTB realize that the solution is either a return to the original core values of the shows, or to scrap them and spend the money elsewhere.
Rant over.

Totally agree Paul. It's only loyalty that keeps me watching. I have a feeling that if the downward slide continues, both Emmerdale and Corrie have lost a viewer.

Ratings are down all round. Compare I'm A Celeb or Downton Abbey with the same time last year. But the soaps are in La La Land, very true.

I`m still fuming that Blackburn didn`t acknowledge Corries 54th Birthday with an episode.... or even a Corrie special to mark the occasion. All he`s banging on about is a Corrie live episode for ITV`s 60th anniversary next year. Worst.producer.Ever... and I lived through the Jane McNaught years.

54 isn't a milestone like 55 or 60 so I'm not surprised. Let's see what the ratings are at Xmas. That should be interesting. Everything tends to be high because people fall asleep in front of the telly. LOL! EE is up against Downton Abbey. Does anyone still watch that? It's rarely mentioned on social media now. Emmerdale overlaps the good Doctor while Corrie is up against Call The Midwife.

Can`t wait for Christmas Day telly The Americans are just so hyped up for DA January 5th on PBS Pats. Even though they`ve had a long wait for it, at least they won`t have to wait as long as we have for the Christmas special. Can`t wait for Call the Midwife either. I`ve missed that so much. Ditto with Mr Selfridge. As for Corrie on Christmas Day.....meh. I might watch Emmerdale though and possibly EE while I`m scarfing on my Terrys Chocolate Orange

Ratings are down across the board as you say, but Corrie isnt getting as good ratings as they did a year ago.
For me Corrie hasnt been as good as it was since after the fantastic 50th anniversary episodes, but the last 12 months the drop in quality has been quite alarming.
I was shocked when people dared to compare the recent bus crash with the tram crash. The tram crash were special episodes that deserved praise, this lot was a load of rubbish by and large although did include a few good bits during the actual crash episode. Sadly last Friday and last nights eps showing the aftermath have been poor in my opinion.
