According to Wikipedia Eileen Derbyshire won't be returning to Corrie after a years break ..... they have said the door is always open if she wants to return .. but it is unlikely

That's a shame .. but she is 85 and deserves a rest after giving her adult life to the show

I think it's pretty obvious but really they should say something. Why keep denying it? From what I've read, the emotions of Barb et al were genuine not acting.

I have to say when she left I didn't really think she would return.
At 85, who could blame her wanting to retire.

I remember at the time wondering if she was ill. Barb and Anne Kirkbride both had sudden time off. The annoying Doreen had a personality transplant overnight and it was obvious she ended up with Reet's lines. Barb returned wearing oversized clothing but had gone back to skirts and heels after years of trousers and flats. Annie we sadly know died. However with Eileen it looks like she just had enough. They were glorified extras anyway. I remember the discussions that Emmerdale used its oldies better. I know EE does. June Brown is still getting proper storylines, the latest being about loneliness and her sight.
