Coronation Street Stars Get Fell-In for Military Charity Show
As part of this year's Southport Air Show and Military Display, "Coronation Street" stars Andy Whyment and Debra Stephenson, who play Kirk and Frankie respectively, are to appear at the Southport Theatre on Saturday, 2nd September at 8.00 p.m. as part of 42 (North West) Brigade's charity show "Soap Stars on Parade" in aid of the Army Benevolent Fund. Andy and Debra will be headlining the show, having both recently had singing success, with Andy on "Soapstars Superstars" and Debra in "Stars in their Eyes" which she won as Kylie Minogue.
The show will be compered by BBC Radio Merseyside's Norman Thomas and will feature the band of the King's Division based at Weeton Barracks, under the leadership of its Director of Music, Captain Richard Watterson. Also appearing on the show will be top North West comedian Lenny Anderson, together with the winner of "Military Pop Hero", a competition that went out to thousands of members of the Reserve Forces and was whittled down to four finalists competing for a chance to sing on the same stage as Andy and Debra.
Monies raised by the show will go to the Army Benevolent Fund which supports both Ex and Serving Regular and Reserve Army personnel and their families in times of need.
