I feel that the storylines in Corrie now are too throwaway..
in the old days if someone had a good storyline Ken/Deirdre/Mike or a death in the family .etc etc....it had a lasting affect on the character and was referred to in furure storylines..
nowadays you have a dramatic storyline ..ie:Mikes death..Seans paternity.Ernies killer coming back into Emilys life..Mad Maya...and its forgotten in weeks and everyone carries on as if nothing has happened, same with minor storylines like Fred falling down a hole in Audreys garden..her hole has never been mentioned since ...

I said that ages ago and it's interesting, as a non-viewer (except Reet's bits), to learn nothing's changed. I found the inconsistency with Reet's rubbish Stacey storyline completely ridiculous. Maybe I noticed it more because I watched the scenes one after the other. But one week she was traumatised, next it was like nothing happened, next traumatised again. She was banged up in the cells overnight in 2004 and all that was quickly forgotten as well.

I know..after the Stacey business it looked like Reet was going off the rails and turning to drink and a good storyline developing from that ...then Bam..she's fine and its all forgotten

Exactly. She got over her fear of being in the flat remarkably fast. Yes she moved into Emily's but even after going back she would still have been scared. I remember when Vera was mugged. She was out and about again in no time and yet when they'd done it in 1982 (?) with Betty she was scared and far more upset.

Think it did. Deirdre was traumatised after her assault and it wrecked her marriage. Grief, heart attacks, cancer, all get over it really fast.

I agree with you Jez it`s high time he paid his mum a visit , why should Betty travel to see him all the time, at her age but he`s alway`s been a selfish person has our Gordon

Gordon's not too bad when he's not under his wife's influence. I didn't like the way when they recast a few years ago they gave him a new personality as well!

Yes I remember Gordon coming back with a new head, but his wife was the same woman as before (the one who came back for Betty's wedding in 1995!)
Betty doesnt have to high an opinion of Caroline either.

I remember Alyson Spiro saying, that when she took over the role of Sarah Sugden in Emmerdale, she had never seen the programme and didn't watch any with Madeliene Howard as Sarah..she just went in and did it

Betty has nothing to do at all, except the occasional hotpot with a scowl at the Rovers - she is practically an extra these days.

Wasn`t Gordons wife called Caroline, and an awful snob? As I recall she was the one who didn`t want Betty to live with them after she got burgled years ago.

Yes but originally she was never such a snob. Bit stuck up. Maybe it was living with all those Joneses which made her that way. Though I'm surprised she stayed with the common oik and all round wet nelly that is Gordon in that case. LOL!
