Apologies for any repeats from my other post. I just checked the video and found places I thought weren't in it! The sun was definitely at a different angle when they were meant to be about to sail. Lucky buggers not having it in their eyes like we did. I also noticed Reet and Mave's cabin had two portholes like ours. I'll need to double check but I'm sure even 11 years ago you only had one with anything lower than Princess Grill grade. So that also means they must have chosen the Mauretania restaurant to film in for space. Princess and Britannia are fairly small. No idea if they had Britannia back then but according to our heritage trail guide Thomas, they didn't open up the class system until 1994 so it's possible both were there then. I'll check. I have knowledgeable friends. LOL! Anyway here they are. The one and only Lizzie! Funnel as seen in the opening titles (but from a different angle) Dock where Alec met Curly and Raquel Yacht Club aka Mermaid Bar where Raquel and Carol chatted before Curly appeared Yacht Club aka Mermaid Bar entrance Yacht Club aka Mermaid Bar by night when Reet chatted to the 'Count' before being joined by Mavis The Queen's Room where Reet, Mave, the Count and Raquel mysteriously moved to so Mave and the Count could dance Boat Deck next to the games where Curly had a go at Alec as Raquel wasn't objecting to separate cabins Upper Deck plan next to the Tour and Travel Office (which had the name covered over) where Curly umpired the table tennis Hot tub where Mavis and the Count were Quarter Deck (the one with the white sign) where Reet and Alec talked, later Curly and Raquel looked for her star Mauretania Restaurant (couldn't get inside to take a photo of the sculpture) The Midships Lobby where Alec and Mrs Bligh talked The Grand Lounge where Melody Lane performed then talked to Reet and finally Reet sang Maurentania model where Alec stood by as Reet came down the stairs and he said goodbye to Sid the 'Count' Staircase Reet, Mave, Curly and Raquel came down to disembark (if you look closely on the video you can just about make out the restaurant there) QEII Terminal (with Union Jacks) as seen as the credits rolled Patsy

I must try and get that sculpture. They do like to keep you out. LOL! There's another entrance so I could try that. We didn't get to the cinema, where the Padre was. I'd love to know what cabin Reet and Mave were in. Certainly looked like Princess Grill. It was funny because my friend refused to be Mave to my Reet because she hates Mave. However she ended up being like her quite a bit. Kept calling Lizzie a 'boat', took the bed nearest the bathroom and dithered over her outfit! Quarterdeck is quite narrow so the cameramen must have squeezed on that. I can't work out where Reet and Mave were before sailing. I thought it was Sun Deck but looking at it it couldn't have been. The Count definitely walked down Boat Deck. Maybe it was there. But the stairs, even back then, didn't come up the direction Alec did. He'd have come from behind them. It's very confusing. But when you watch, look for the Tour and Travel Office sign near Curly during the first table tennis scene. It's very stupid they covered it up but you can just make it out. I don't think they'd have had the table tennis there anyway. It's too near the Grand Lounge and would have blocked the passage. We saw two tables. Can't remember where one was but the other was in the large area very close to our cabin where there were only a few chairs, sofa at each side and foreign exchange machines.

Found the pic looking onto the Boat Deck and am using the large version so you can see where the stairs are right at the end. If they had been on Sun Deck like us Reet would have spotted Alec coming up. Whereas if it was Boat Deck she'd only have seen him coming down from where she was standing. Patsy

Oh it's fabulous, Pearly. A friend of mine who used to organise ship visits asked me what if I hate cruising because there were 5 more booked for next year (now 6 when I go to LA in 08) before doing the first one. I said no way. I love being on the sea. I feel right at home just looking around. I didn't want to get off Arcadia, Black Watch and QM2 when I visited them. How could I possibly hate cruising? Suffice to say he hasn't said "You were right." LOL! But there really is nothing like it. Especially walking around the deck late at night. It's you, the ship, the sea and the quiet. I can't describe it. And there's just so much to do on board the days fly by. You are knackered when you get home though. You run on adrenalin on short ones. Longer you can be more leisurely and have more lie ins. LOL!

Thanks, Valda. Did you notice how filthy the carpet outside the Yacht Club is? There's a few like that and she only came back from her last refit on the 8th May.
Course you know the real reason Reet loves cruising (apart from trapping rich men whose only escape is overboard)? All that unlimited duty free and no struggling at airports with it! Not that she'd be happy any vodka she bought she wouldn't get until leaving. But the thought of saving cash is a huge turn on. LOL!

It's a very fast turnaround so unfortunately there isn't the time for them to wash the carpets. . Much faster than it used to be. There was a time ships would leave anywhere between 6-8pm. Now it's mainly 5pm and they arrive usually between 6-7am. Have to get the passengers off, clean the cabins ready for the new passengers, load up with new provisions and the new passengers board from 2pm. They're always vacuuming them though during the day and night. I got tangled up a couple of times trying to get past. LOL!
Ah but money, even a penny (or halfpenny in the old days) is a powerful aphrodisiac to Reet. Pity the poor (well rich), unsuspecting men she tries to pounce on. LOL!

Norma, did they have much disruption on board during filming? I think the one after ours was the current equivalent to the one they filmed the video on. Don't go to the same places though. Just was the same length. Usual suspects these days of Lisbon, Malaga, Madeira, Tenerife, Las Palmas, Lanzarote and Gibraltar. They don't even go to Tunis any more which is a shame. Itineries have got so boring. P&O and Cunard go to mostly the same places since Carnival owns them both. Where do all 2-nighters go? Zeebrugge. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzz. Can't have France or somewhere. P&O has to be the worst though as they don't do transtlantics apart from when they reposition Arcadia and Oceana to the Caribbean in October or the odd Caribbean and New England/Canada. During the summer season all the ships go to the same places. Aurora and Oriana alternate. So what Oriana does this year, Aurora does next. It's unimaginative and unsurprising with Carnival's own ships going round in the same circles week in, week out. LOL Valda! Reet would be so jealous I'm on the rich deck on my next cruise even though I have a fairly cheap balcony cabin because I'm so poor. If I don't snare a millionaire who's not married or gay with that opportunity I'll become a nun. Patsy

I've just seen the video of a friend of mine's disasterous transatlantic crossing at the end of 1994 (the refit work wasn't anywhere near finished and the BBC even used his video on the news to show how bad conditions were) and they filmed Reet and Mave in what is now the Mauretania restaurant. Hooray! I've finally found out! ;D Must get a pic of that sculpture next time.
