I thought Peter Barlow was a good character, and certainly not as conventional as some of the others, so I will second the fact I am pleased for his return.

From the Mirror:
20 November 2006 EXCLUSIVE: BIGAMIST BARLOW BACK Corrie St sensation By Brian Roberts BIGAMIST Peter Barlow is bursting back on to Coronation Street in explosive New Year scenes.
Actor Chris Gascoyne, 37, who left in 2003, was persuaded back after being told that Peter will step into the middle of his sister Tracy's revenge on cheating partner Charlie Stubbs.
Tracy (Kate Ford) has already warned evil builder Charlie (Bill Ward) she will kill him if he strays again. A Corrie insider said: "Suffice to say there will be blood spilled in some of the most gripping scenes ever recorded.
"Peter Barlow arrives back to give his sister Tracy some much needed support. He ends up getting into a fight with Charlie over his treatment of Tracy."
Hairdresser Maria Sutherland (Samia Smith) is thought to be lined up as Peter's new love.

So if Peter and Maria get serious/married then Maria will be Tracy's sister-in-law! Tracy will ove that: Maria taking her man and then her brother!

Precisely. Besides we all know Peter's true adoptive sister was played by Dawn. Patsy

Ah but other actors played Peter before Chris did too so it works both ways!

Sneaky. However it doesn't get away from the fact even Holly Charmerette was less wooden than KF at the time Tracy was adopted. Patsy

I dont recall Peter being in the show at all during the time Tracy was played by Dawn Acton. Like you said she was played by Holly Chamerette when he was in it in the mid 1980s. Wendy Jane Walker who played Susan was worse than Holly Charmerette IMO.

His last appearance before the live ep was 1988, the same year Dawn came in but I can't remember if they crossed.

Dawn took over towards the end of 1988 I think. She was around not long before the episode when Deirdre was taken hostage at Christmas.
So do you agree WJW was a poor actress but not worse that KF? lol

No. No one is as bad as KF. WJW I could tolerate in spite of that irritating voice of hers. She never made me want to hurl things at the screen.
