R.I.P Lady Sybil I just knew that arrogant Sir Philip didn't know what he was talking about.

I do wish they would hurry up and find the truth out about poor Bates.

My guess is that he`ll be out either on the last episode - or the Christmas one.

Awww its the last episode of DA next week. Sunday nights will be so boring when it ends. I`m so glad Lady Sybils hubby is the new estate manager. I was worried it would be Bates.

I love Bates BC - he`s more suited to being Lord Granthems valet than estate manager. Both Bates and Lord Granthem have a wonderful working relationship. And I agree with you Sooty - Bates is my fave character too.

Yes - great end to the series. Lots of storylines to look forward to in the future.
I thought Robert had a bit of a character swap in this series - even more of a pompous stuffed shirt and not as warm as in previous series.
Much prefer all the 'downstairs' stuff, but having said that, when we're off on our National Trust house visits, I'm always more interested in the kitchens and servants' quarters! ;D

Me too homer. Thankfully now it won`t clash with 'Call the Midwife'. Although with my getting eps online, it won`t matter a bit to me. ;D

I`m not sure what to think of the 'prequel' that Julian Fellowes is wring about the courtship between Lord and Lady Grantham. I`ll watch it when it comes on the telly though. Season 2 of DA was repeated on PBS here last night, with season 3 appearing right after season 2. It`s very popular here in the US. Its a shame that the Daily Mail had a massive spoiler in the title about a death in DA in season 3. A lot of Australians and Americans who hadn`t seen it yet weren`t best pleased.

I will probably watch the prequel, but why do they keep on putting prequels after showing three series of a programme, instead of putting the prequel on first.

I got some rather nice white chocolate Kit Kats to munch on tonight while watching Downtown Abbey. I read the other day that this episode could be the last apart from the prequel that Julian is in the process of writing.

Christmas Special excellent - shock ending, but only because I'd totally forgotten it was the last appearance of one of the main characters! (these Audrey moments are getting more and more frequent! ;D) ....and don't worry Wendy - it was announced at the end that a new series will be airing next year.

Wow what a shocking end.......I really didn`t expect that at all. I hope the rotters at the Sun and Daily Mail won`t spoil it by putting the death in the headline like they did when Lady Sybil died. The Americans, Canadians and Australians were furious about that, and I don`t blame them one little bit. Paul, that`s excellent news about another season. Thank you so much for that. It could have finished for good last night and I would have been satisfied.

An excellent line last night by the always brilliant Lady Violet when Rose`s Mother scolded her for wearing a dress that made her look like a slut. The Dowager Countess said "Heavens, that`s not a word you often hear among the heather" How I chortled. ;D

A most enjoyable 'special' apart from the last 5 minutes which I could see coming (knowing Dan Stevens had left) Lets hope Lady Mary has a more positive role in future. Good to hear there will be a new series.

How on earth did EE beat Downton? I don't watch Downton as you know but expected it to beat that by miles!

I didn`t know Dan Stevens was leaving - so it really was a shock when his character died.
