At the Inside Soap awards Best Soap - EE (yeah right) Soap bitch - Kate Ford (Corrie) Best Female - Sally Lindsay (Corrie) I feel too sick at heart to type anymore. Val on Emmerdale was robbed as best newcomer

Hooray to EE winning! The less Corrie win Best Soap the more hard they'll work to stop it going down the bog. They're too damn arrogant as it is now. That's the theory anyway.
Bitch? Well she'll never get Actress will she?
Sally Lindsay?? You have GOT to be kidding! Who votes for these??
Val was robbed as was all of Emmerdale as usual.

I agree with Patsy but for different reasons. Corrie deserve more than a crappy Inside Soap "Best Soap Award". Inside Soap is so biased towards EE that EE are welcome to all the Inside Soap Awards. And because mostly EE fans read Inside Soap and vote in these awards then to me they are totally meaningless to me.

Did Emmerdale get anything? In my personal opinion, Diane Sugden should have got best female actor. Best male actor should`ve gone to Bradley Walsh...also in my opinion. Danny Baldwin has brought a breath of fresh air to Corrie. As for soap bitch - that should`ve gone to Steph Stoakes on Emmerdale. However, had Dawn Acton still coveted the Tracey Barlow role, then the Soap Bitch award should have gone to Dawn. Poor Dawn has been robbed on 2 accounts. EE has gone downhill so much this past year, I can`t see myself becoming a regular as I once was. The last time I watched it, Dennis and Sharon had just made their grand entrence.

I am an EE hater and watch now and again for big storylines (pretty much like people do with Corrie). But I've been watching over a month now and have actually enjoyed it. Can't see myself sticking with it long-term but I do want to see Chrissy get hers. The trouble is people vote for people from their fave soap unlike the old days. I did it myself and voted all Emmerdale, even on categories I don't believe should be included. There are far too many awards now with the usual nominees so it makes them meaningless.

Is there one soap award of the year that really means a lot more than the others? I see so many Brit awards lately, I get lost on which one is which.

Well the Bafta's I suppose since it's pretigious. The Soap Awards are clearly nicked from the American Soap Awards like the British Comedy Awards from the American Comedy Awards (though the latter is better for paying tribute to recently deceased stars). But there are just too many. British Soap Awards, Inside Soap (magazine), TV Quick (magazine), National Television Awards, Bafta, and loads of others I'm sure other posters will remind me of.

National Television Awards are supposed to be the big ones that they all consider worthy to have as ALL categories are voted for by the public (unlike the British Soap Awards where only 6 categories are voted by the public). Unlike the Inside Soap Awards, the NTA awards reach out to a wider less bias audience in the voting (well that's the theory) and cover all television, not just soaps.
The BAFTAS are the biggies and have been for many many years however theyaren't voted by the public and are decided upon by showbiz industry insiders.
EE won 7, Corrie 6 and Emmerdale 2 at the Inside Soap Awards BTW.

I pretty much ignore Inside Soap and TV quick awards, people just voted what they like most anyway reguardless of others, as you say biased. It never ceases to amaze me how some fans will defend they're soaps for getting their awards than the ones who don't, the biased replies i have seen at numerous forums never ceases.
If corrie is my favourite but an EE deserved it more, reguardless of what soap a forum is more inclined to, i'll say or. Vice versa with any soap. There are ones i don't watch like Family Affairs (can't) and Hollyoaks (won't!) but i won't judge comment on them and awards as i don't have a right.

Hear, hear, Peter! I agree with you. Corrie I've watched reguarly longest until the end of July when I stopped. Emmerdale I've been back watching regularly since the bus crash in 2000 (watched it growing up, went off it in my teens and dipped in and out). EE I watch if there's some big storyline. I don't like EE but have found it brilliant lately and they do deserve the award but Emmerdale deserve it more for being consistently the same. But soap fans will vote for their faves anyway no matter how crap it is. I voted in the Soap Awards and even gave EE some. I gave Corrie none because I was bored even then. If people have been saying Corrie or EE or whatever is total b/s, how can they be pleased their fave won? I don't think I'll ever understand that.

NTA also have the right title "Most Popular" rather than "Best".

Perhaps though if the soap bosses didn't keep putting the SAME names forward year in, year out, we might get some fairer winners.

Its because its not as popular as the other 2 and unless that changes less people are going to vote for it.

I think it's more to do with the age group of people voting for these things. People vote for who they fancy and because that nominee if from their favourite soap regardless of whether or not they actually deserve it.

Here Here, soontobeextra. Im sick of EE dominating the awards. Mind you Emmerdale won that recent one so I guess thats fair enough, even though I think Corrie deserved it.
Speaking of the soap awards, normally we would know the nominations by now, but maybe due to having to find a new host it will be delayed this year a bit.

Corrie didn't because most of the past year has been boring. The problem too with all these soap awards is there's too many eps and people only remember more recent storylines in 12 months.

That I do agree about - I bet Killer Katy will be forgotton even though it will qualify for this years soapies.

Killer Katy which ripped off Richard killing Maxine but was nowhere near as good because the Harrises were boring. Didn't need extra eps and didn't need all that publicity.

It should win something though but will be overlooked because it was too late for last years soapies no-one will remember this year.
Barb's recent storyline might be in time though so maybe she will be nominated. And Eileen Derbyshire
