Not that either of them will win when they aim the show at kids by hiring pretty boys and girls they vote for.

So am I jez. I wouldn`t be so bitter if EE deserved some of the awards, but they don`t. I`m glad Emmerdale won an award though - good on them

Im dreading the soapies this year as I can see EE winning a lot as usual.

And KF getting a judges award because she won't be voted for by the public.

They may vote her best actress now Suranne isnt in the running!

The soap awards have been getting a little fairer over the past couple of years I think though - or the
It will actually be interesting to see this year how EE does - because Alfie and Dennis were Best Actor and Sexiest Male for the past few years (I think). But if the teenagers who vote for these things aren't seeing them on their screens four days a week will they be as likely to vote for these two? Same goes for Sexiest Female (Jessie Wallace! {smirk} ).

I think Sexiest should be scrapped because it's got nothing to do with acting and people today have enough pressure as it is about how they look.
I still think women shouldn't be included in Villain. Should be either both sexes or Villain for men and Bitch for women.
I also think Granada should be stripped of their Longest Running Drama Serial title seeing as they are, for all intents and purposes, a soap.

Sexiest should be scrapped but I think they take those awards as a bit of a joke really. Jodi Albert who played Debbie in Hollyoaks won sexiest female last year so anything is possible this year! (Not that I dont think she is good looking because she is, better than Jessie Wallace thats for sure, but I didnt expect Hollyoaks to get as many votes!)
A soap is just another name for drama serial though Patsy

No it's not. It's just Granada being fussy so they could have a title as Longest Running soap would be taken by America where they invented the genre on radio.

If anyone deserves best actress on Corrie it`s Sue Cleaver...she`s been overlooked far too long. Although Eileen Derbyshire should get a look in, and her performance has been flawless as of late.....when she`s been given something decent to do for a change. On Emmerdale, I`d like to see 'Diane Sugden' win best actress - at least be nominated

It`s difficult to choose best actor in Corrie as both Bradley Walsh and Johnny have both been superb

Bradley for Best Actor for me. And Sally Whittaker for Best Actress
Well we wont have to wait long to find out the nominations - next week's Whats on TV has them.

Johnny hasn't been nominated which is typical of the ageism around these days because he would be robbed like Sue and Barbara. Probably get the Lifetime Achievement this year though.

Johnny deserves that award.

Not really. He would be better off getting a proper lifetime achievement one because of his long and varied career. Not for 1 role.

But with this being the soap awards they can only award for his role in soaps - they might briefly mention his role in Crossroads in the Mid 1970s but I very much doubt it.

I know that which is why it's meaningless. Don't forget, I grew up in a time when Lifetime Achievement meant just that. Not for 1 part.

Yes but as I said it a lifetme achievement soap award, for people who have been in soaps for a large part of their life. Johnny, Barbara, William Roach etc have all been for 30 years plus when they were given their awards (assuming Johnny will get it of course!)

I know that. But it's still meaningless compared to a proper one.

Well we disagreed nearly 2 years ago when Barbara got one and you said it was an insult - so we were hardly likely to agree about this!

LOL! That's because there's too many awards these days meaning they lose their value. In my day (told you I was getting old!) you didnt get all the crap now with the same nominees in the same categories because there was variety on TV and talent. It was harder to get one. And a Lifetime Achievement meant just that. Not Lifetime Achievement for one role. Because let's face it, what have they actually achieved? Nothing. There's not many who have won awards playing that part who get the Lifetime Achievement. So that's usually the only thing they'll ever get like a clock when they retire. It's not like they played a variety of parts making it more deserving.

Well id say being in a soap for 25+ years is an achievement. Didnt Goodyear get one once, not at the soapies but the NTA?

It's not an achievement to keep signing contracts when they're put in front of you because you're too afraid to lose all that money and be unemployed.
No idea. Hardly ever watched them.

I think she did. It was just before she left Corrie. She didnt deserve one as most of the time her acting was below standard.
