Loved them both, tho' thought the first episode of EB was a bit slow.
Agree generally about both shows. MW was excellent, and would easily stand up on it's own.
EB was only enjoyable if you were 'in on the joke', otherwise it was all a bit obvious, with trite dialogue, beautiful young people, and OTT soundtrack (sort of Hollyoaks meets Home and Away). A lot of my enjoyment came from spotting the links to/from MW. (Little things like the giant panda, the length of Grace's skirt, use of Suzy Amie etc.)
Thought Johnny Briggs was pretty rubbish, and not sure if that was intentional?
Overall a great concept, and pleased that now it's started, it will only be on once a week, rather than the two we got this week. Less is more, I say!
9/10
Any idea what other Cornish locations were used sooty, particularly the harbour and small town scenes?

I agree about Susie's character "Angela" - she was such a pointless character in that scene in Echo Beach you would have to have watched MW to understand why.
I am also glad its only once a week, im looking forward to next weeks show. Its nice to see a soap that is so different to usual.

I have to say I am quite impressed with both these programmes.
If the scenery does the same for Echo Beach as it did for Doc Martin this is a sure fire winner.
Both EB and MW can be viewed as independant programmes, but you miss a lot of the 'in' jokes if you do not watch MW first. I think Ben Miller as the producer ( MW ) is hilarious.
I am still trying to work out what has happened to Jason Donovans's Aussie accent.
Funniest thing though has to be Johnny Briggs trying to do a Cornish accent.
BC, I believe the three places it's filmed in are Falmouth, Watergate Bay and Looe

Both shows got 5 million for the first episodes on Thursday but according to overnights they dropped to 3.8 million on Friday. That is quite a big drop. Personally I think they are showing it the wrong night. It should be on Thursday from next week not Friday as a lot of the target audience may not be in on Friday nights at 9pm.

Thanks sooty.
Also forgot to mention that it was great to see Naomi Ryan again (Corrie's Bobbi). Wasn't sure if it was her for a while, as she seemed to have grown in height!

I thought both were very, very good - but I am surprised by the really low ratings - especially with the amount of promotion that they've been getting. I agree that Friday night is an unusual night for something like this to be airing, with so many people out.
Echo Beach is such a rip off of so many other shows (The OC, Hollyoaks, Home & Away) but it is still really very good. The concept is very good and the two shows go well together.
Susie Amy's character was very funny and I love looking out for the crossover bits.

The scenery is gorgous. I haven`t seen the second one yet - probably will this weekend sometime. What I`ve seen so far I really like. Nice to see 'Mrs McClusky from Grange Hill' in it too. And Johnny briggs. But gawd he looked so uncomfortable in that role - hope he improves. And credit where credit is due - I thought Jason Donovan looks better now than he did in his Neighbours days. The accent will take a bit of getting used to, but I`m sure he`ll improve. Ben Miller is a naturally funny comedian. He was absolutely hilarious in 'The Worst Week of My Life'. I still hoot with laughter when he shovelled that dog into the cememt mixer ;D

Johnny Briggs did look uncomfortable, but I wonder if he'll improve. We've only seen a few scenes with him so far.

Enjoyed Friday's episodes of them both, but suspect I'm going to get bored with EB quicker than MW.
I'm not sure if there are quite enough cross-references between the two to make EB laugh-out-loud funny, and I'm already finding a lot of the youngsters very irritating (tho' that may be completely intentional I s'pose).
Loved MW tho' and the way the writers kept moving in and out of Jonathan's office.

I think it's rather cruel of a couple of TV critics referring to Martine McCutcheon as Martine Echo beached whale, and Martine Macluncheon. Funny though. ;D

I like both, but EB is probably my favourite - mainly for the beautiful imagery. The cross references are good as well.

EB is my fave out of the 2 as well. Last week I preferred MW but this weeks episode wasnt anywhere near as good.
Apparently ratings didnt improve on Friday though despite the strong lead in from Corrie.

I'm a bit puzzled with this...if Moving Wallaper is the story behind the Echo Beach soap and the characters in MW are fictional played by real actors (Ben Miller etc..)..then are the characters in EB actually played by the actors (Jason Donovan,Martine McCutcheon etc..) or are the 'actors' meant to be fictional too..!!..?

They are. In MW they always mention the actors are Jason and Martine among others, and they make guest appearances in MW as themselves. I think they are credited like this in MW
Jason Donovan as himself

Confused..??...you will be
I remember they did this format in a one off drama about 15 years ago called 'Exclusive yarns'
it was the story of a soap set in a wool shop in Tunbridge Wells called Exclusive yarns..it starred Lesley Joseph,Maureen Lipman and Patricia Hodge who played sioap actresses who co-owned the shop in the series, you also saw behind the scenes with the producer ewtc...which had a knock on effect with the plot ie:He brought his girlfriend (played by Georgia Allen) into the series and eventually axed the longer running characters....then you had another sub plot about a group of three gay men who ran the 'Exclusive Yarns' fan club ..and for each episode they would sit down together to watch it dressed as their favourite characters...and you also saw their reaction when the characters were axed

Have you watched it yet Nick? The thing is it sounds confusing on paper, yet it surprisingly well done on screen.

It's a possibility I suppose. Depend on if Johnathon Pope and the execs at ITV want to get the ratings up some week!

Apparently both EB and MW will be released on DVD once the 12 part series have ended.
