From Digital Spy
Ex-Coronation Street actor Chris Bisson is to make a guest appearance in a forthcoming episode of ITV's Echo Beach.
The 32-year-old – who played Corrie's Vikram Desai between 1999 and 2002 – will appear in episode nine of ITV's unique soap concept as Narinder Gurai's (Chandeep Uppal) brother, Amit.
His return ties in with the reveal of Narinder's back-story which explains why she moved to the soap's fictional Cornish town of Polnarren.

Last nights episode of Echo Beach was far better than last weeks. I was bored of it then but its improved a bit.

Yeah, I liked it too. I thought that the end was good as well, even if it was highly predictable. I wonder how Jimmi will react after it though? It is really difficult to buy some of the scenes though, especially after watching Moving Wallpaper. I'm thinking of giving up on MP and only watching EB.
But as Martine said somewhere during the week, no show is perfect and if they do come back for a second series then they'll be able to improve it.

With ratings how they are though I wonder if it will get a 2nd series?

It didn't do great the first few weeks going on earlier posts here, so I wonder if its improved since then. The slot isn't great ("Friday night is the new Saturday night"), and in some ways airing them beside each other doesn't help either.

MW - excellent; possibly the best episode yet? Loved Sam's convoluted plotline, Carl in the fridge, and Jonathan on his mission to seek out the owner of the flip-flop.
EB - still not sure about this. Yes, it's great to look at, and I love the references back to MW, but for me the concept isn't really working. If it's meant to be a straightforward soap, then it's pretty awful, with hopelessly predictable storylines, and some woeful acting. If it's meant to be tongue-in-cheek, then it really isn't funny enough.
Brave idea by ITV, but I suspect it will run out of steam.

I agree Blackcatz - MW was so funny last night, Echo Beach in comparison was just a crappy soap with, as you said, predictable storylines.
I wonder if either of these will be recommisioned? I suppose MW could work on its own without EB - a comedy about a fictional production team.

Totally agree - MW could work with any other show, not just soaps.

Anyone else think that Jonathan and Sam are going to get together? He pretty obviously fancies her!!
I love how crap Echo Beach is. Although - that Abi takes the biscuit. i mean its pretty obvious she got the role because she is so gorgeous - but her acting is TERRIBLE! I get that is meant to be a parody but she just takes the biscuit!!
Love Maddie xxxxxxxxx

Here is a bit of useless information. The actress who plays Abi, is Helen Lederer's daughter.

Don't you think its just a clever way of filling 30 minutes of prime time telly with crap...??..or is it me

Well I think the point is its supposed to be a bit crap, originally EB was going to be on ITV2 straight after MW on ITV1 so I guess they decided EB would fill the remaining half hour of the hour on ITV1.

the fact that it is crap and is being propped up by Moving wallpaper proves my point...it would have been better if both the series had been adapted into the one series..showing behind the scenes as it went along

EB only got something like 2.4 million last Friday night and ITV1 was beaten by BBCs 1&2, Ch4 and even Five. No word on MW, but I'm guessing it wasn't that far ahead. Unlikely it'll be back, but good on Michael Grade and ITV for trying something new and different.

I agree - I think MW is genuinely funny and original.
EB isn't necessary, tho' as we've already said, it was an interesting concept. I think they could have made so much more of it; either with more cross-references, even naffer acting, and more humour. As it is at the moment, I wouldn't be bothered if it ended tomorrow.

I think they should have left Echo Beach on ITV2 and not moved it to ITV1. That was it would be an extra programme that fans of MW could watch if they wanted to and it wouldnt be the main show of the 2.

With those sort of ratings, another series doesn't look hopeful does it ? Shame, I quite enjoyed it.

The trouble is, MW is about the scenes and story of EB. Would it work without out.?

Well they could adapt MW to be about any show as I think BK suggested.
Both shows arent doing very well though - id say its about 50:50 whether they return.

Another good episode of MW - I loved the Ewan McGregor stuff. Was so funny at the end.
EB wasnt too bad either - I wonder if Jimmy really is Dan's son or if its a false alarm to make the viewers think he is?

MW good fun again, but switched off during EB; it's just not good enough (or bad enough).

The Ewan McGregor stuff was very funny I thought - and I loved the reference to him in EB. I doubt Jimmy is Dan's son though, it'd be more of a twist if he wasn't at this stage.
