www.itv.com/emmerdale What were you really doing up at Home Farm Mr Hope?
Alright, I went to see Tom. It was our first Christmas without Dawn and there he was, getting married. I thought I’d go up there and do something so he knew how we felt. I didn’t know what exactly. Then he found me in the house and we had words. But we didn’t fight, I didn’t push him and I certainly didn’t kill him. I left just like he told me to.
What did you do when you found out Tom had been murdered?
I heard a commotion, I knew something had happened. I just panicked and fled coz I knew I wasn’t supposed to be there. Then Jimmy caught up with me and accused me of murder. I didn’t know what he was talking about.
If you didn’t do it, who did?
It could have been any number of people. Tom King had no shortage of enemies.
Did Tom deserve to die?
Maybe. I hated the man. He’s hurt a lot of people, me included. I’d rather have seen him in court than dead though.
And yet a few weeks ago you tried to run him over?
(LYING) That was an accident. Jimmy King can back me up. Look. I’m telling the truth. I didn’t do it.

Interview with Carl King
Where were you in the moments before the murder?
Want to find out where Carl was at the time of murder? Find the clue at
www.itv.com/emmerdale When was the last time you saw your dad?
There was an argument. I was angry with him for the way he treated Chas. We had words. The last words I ever said to him.
What did you do when you found out Tom had been murdered?
I heard screaming and rushed over to see what had happened. Nothing could have prepared me for what I saw.
Who do you think did it?
Dad annoyed a lot of people. I guess it was only a matter of time before someone took their revenge. It could be Bob, Jamie, Terry, even Rosemary could have done it. Their relationship was a sham. It was obvious she was only after his money. Grayson for the same reasons… to do his mummy’s dirty work. Who knows?
Do you think your dad deserved to die?
Look, I’ll be honest with you. There were times when me and dad didn’t see eye to eye. He was so controlling and he ruined my relationship with Chas. I really resented him for that. But, I would never have wished him dead. He was my dad.

Interview with Rosemary King
Where were you in the moments before the murder?
Want to find out where Rosemary was at the time of murder? Find the clue at
www.itv.com/emmerdale What did you do when they found out Tom had been murdered?
I heard a scream from the driveway. I thought one of the guests had too much fizz. I couldn’t believe it when I saw him lying there.
Who do you think did it?
Matthew. He’s scheming and clever enough. He probably felt threatened that Tom had given me control of Home Farm Estates and was thinking about handing King and Sons over to Carl. Matthew is only motivated by money and power. I wouldn’t trust him as far as I could throw him.
Did Tom deserve to die?
No, Tom did not deserve to die. Tom has struggled to make things work with everybody in his way. He is actually a just person.
Some people are pointing the finger at you…
If you ask me, whoever’s saying this is only trying to shift the blame off themselves. Some people? Let me guess… Matthew! Listen, I loved Tom. I married him for God’s sake. Why would I kill him?
For money? You were destitute when you hooked up with Tom and lied about your financial situation.
Yes it’s true. I was broke. But Tom and I worked through all that. We loved each other and were looking forward to a future together. I had already been given control of the estates as a wedding gift, why would I need any more than that?

Relationship to victim: Son’s ex-fiancee
Motive: Emotional revenge
Case history: Chas has felt compromised ever since the house collapse. It was only her relationship with Carl that kept her from saying more until her morals got the better of her. Tom, seeing her as a liability, paid her off to leave by threatening to disinherit Carl.
Previous convictions: 31/05/04 – arrested for public indecency
Interview with Chastity Dingle
Where were you in the moments before the murder?
Want to find out where Chas was at the time of murder? Find the clue at
www.itv.com/emmerdale What did you do when you found out Tom had been murdered?
When I got to the Woolpack, news had already spread. I was completely gobsmacked. I didn’t even know anything had happened until I got there. I wanted to go back and see Carl, check he was ok, but Zak said I should stay put. That it would be crawling with coppers, and I’d made no secret of how much I hated Tom.
Can anyone verify what time you arrived there?
(THINKING ON HER FEET) Erm, yes. Diane… probably.
Who do you think murdered Tom?
I don’t know. Loads of people could have done it. My money would be on Rosemary. She’s an evil cow and I don’t believe she was in love with Tom. If you ask me, she killed him for the money. Mind you, I also saw Terry loitering around Home Farm. He had a motive too.
Did Tom deserve to die?
I hated him for the way he wriggled out of taking any responsibility for the house collapse. That was him all over. The dirt never stuck. That’s why I tried to help Jamie find the foreman. I felt sorry for him. He’d lost his sister for God’s sake. But it was all a set-up so as usual, Tom had the last laugh. I was booted out of Home Farm and lost Carl for good. Guess he’s not laughing now though is he?
Look, I may have wanted to see him pay for what he did, but I didn’t kill him.

Interview with Terry Woods
Where were you in the moments before the murder?
Want to find out where Terry was at the time of murder? Find the clue at
www.itv.com/emmerdale What did you do when you found out Tom had been murdered?
I heard about the murder from Louise and Hari but I didn’t have time to stick around. Like I cared anyway!
Who do you think did it?
Look, Bob’s a good friend of mine, but ever since the house collapse he’s been obsessed with revenge. He even had me convinced that we should pull some stunt to show Tom he couldn’t get away with it. But when I lost TJ, revenge didn’t seem so important as getting my son back. I would never do anything to jeopardise his future. He’s the most important thing in my life.
Did Tom deserve to die?
Yes. I’m glad someone had the guts to do it. He nearly ruined my life. He was responsible for the death of TJ’s mother, my ex-wife, then he tore my family apart by paying Jean off behind our backs. He’s was an evil, self-serving man.

www.itv.com/emmerdale What did you do when he found out Tom had been murdered?
I went to find Pearl, check she was ok.
Who do you think did it?
People were queuing up. I couldn’t care less who did it, I’m just glad someone did.
Did Tom deserve to die?
He was a nasty piece of work and I won’t shed one single tear now he’s gone. He destroyed Edna by betraying her secret and used her affection for him to try and coerce her into protecting his rotten family. Edna will never be able to trust anyone again. I hate him for that.

Where were you in the moments before the murder?
Want to find out where Jamie was at the time of murder? Find the clue at
www.itv.com/emmerdale What did you do when you found out Tom had been murdered?
I panicked. I thought that I might be a suspect because I’d been at Home Farm. So I burned my clothes. I was worried that forensics could place me at the scene. I know it was a stupid thing to do.
If you didn’t do it, who did?
I don’t know. It couldn’t have been dad though. He doesn’t have it in him.
Did Tom deserve to die?
Nobody deserves to die, not even him. I don’t think whoever did it intended to kill him.

Previous convictions: None
Interview with Grayson Sinclair
Where were you in the moments before the murder?
Want to find out where Grayson was at the time of murder? Find the clue at
www.itv.com/emmerdale What did you do when you found out Tom had been murdered?
I heard screams so I ran to where they were coming from. I saw Tom on the ground and phoned an ambulance. I was completely shocked when I realised he’d come through the window.
Who do you think did it?
I don’t know. I wouldn’t put it past one of his sons though. They all resented him for one reason or another and with all the talk of changing his will, it’s no wonder they got twitchy.
Did Tom deserve to die?
I admit I didn’t like the man and I made no secret of disapproving the marriage. I believe my mother only agreed to it for money and security and yet he couldn’t even deliver on that. Tom was brutish and vulgar and even had the nerve to criticise my sexuality, which was none of his business. But regardless, I’d never have wished the man dead. I just didn’t want him to be part of our family and if he’d ever done anything to hurt my mother I couldn’t have stood by and let that happen. But murder? I’m not that sort of man.

Interview with Jimmy King
Where was he in the moments before the murder?
Want to find out where Jimmy was at the time of murder? Find the clue at
www.itv.com/emmerdale What did you do when you found out Tom had been murdered?
I tried to get near him but Rosemary was there already. I wanted to hold him but she was all over him. What right did she have? She’d only known him five minutes. Then I saw Bob climbing down the drainpipe. I ran over and grabbed him. It was obvious he had something to do with it.
So you think Bob did it?
Without a doubt. He looked guilty as hell. What was he doing at Home Farm? Maybe it was an accident, I don’t know, but Bob’s your man. I guarantee it.
Did your dad deserve to die?
Of course he didn’t. I won’t lie. He made my life hell sometimes. We’re a close family but we didn’t always see eye to eye. He was always putting me down. Anything that went wrong, it was always my fault. I sometimes got the feeling he didn’t have any respect for me at all. He was a bully who always got his own way. But at the end of the day he was my dad and I loved him.

Interview with Matthew King
Where were you in the moments before the murder?
Want to find out where Matthew was at the time of murder? Find the clue at
www.itv.com/emmerdale What did you do when you found out Tom had been murdered?
I didn’t even know anything was wrong until I heard a crash. I raced outside and saw him lying there. I couldn’t believe it.
Who do you think did it?
Rosemary for sure. I knew all along she was only after his money. She didn’t love him. She was so smug when the fool asked her to marry him. I tried to tell him, but he wouldn’t listen. He was a bloody-minded old sod at times.
Did Tom deserve to die?
What kind of a question is that? Of course he didn’t. I admit that we had our disagreements, as he did with Jimmy and Carl. He was always playing us off against each other. One of us would be would be flavour of the month one minute, the next, someone else would be in line to take over the great King Empire. It was difficult to know where I stood with him sometimes, even though I’d done more for that business than any of my brothers. That firm wouldn’t be where it is today if I hadn’t worked so damn hard and I’ll certainly be taking over now he’s gone. You can be sure of that!
