Tom King's killer to be revealed.... ITV Press Release - May 4 2007 It’s going to be far from quiet in the country on Thursday 17 May when Tom King’s murderer is finally unmasked in an explosive hour-long episode. The most anticipated soap whodunit ever will reach its climax as the net closes in on Tom’s sons Jimmy (Nick Miles), Matthew (Matt Healy) and Carl (Tom Lister). They insist they are innocent as they stand in the dock accused of conspiracy to murder, but in a surprise twist all will be revealed when the killer finally breaks their silence… The scorching one-hour episode will also feature the aftermath of Louise’s (Emily Symons) horrific car crash as she races to the police station to withdraw her false statement against the Kings. Operatic superstar Katherine Jenkins will be making a very special appearance as herself to open the eventful Emmerdale village pageant, and the cat fight to end all cat fights erupts as Katie (Sammy Winward) and Jo (Roxanne Pallett) quite literally rip each other to shreds as contestants in the long-awaited village Beauty Contest. As if that’s not enough, the episode concludes with the shock death of a much-loved character, resulting in the pageant celebrations coming to a heartbreaking end. Kathleen Beedles, Series Producer says: "We’re really excited about this episode which is bursting with drama, comedy and heartbreak. "It’s a fitting climax to the Tom King storyline which has surpassed all our expectations and become one of the greatest soap murder mysteries ever." Online Whodunnit Proves A Great Hit The ground-breaking Who Killed Tom King interactive channel at www.itv.com/emmerdale has now reached a phenomenal 125,000 users. The fully interactive website has turned viewers into super sleuths by challenging them to solve the murder mystery behind Tom’s death. The site was launched in December 2006 to enhance the viewer’s engagement with the programme, enlisting an online community to put the pieces of the puzzle together via character weblogs, clues, secret emails and voicemails from characters in the show.

So who does everyone think killed Tom?? I think Carl at the moment, although if he is the killer i will be really annoyed as it just goes against the entire character of Carl!!

I think its the merry widow Rosemary helped by Grayson as they had a lot to gain by Toms death and why else would they have asked Hari to lie for them .

Well if it turns out it isn't Len (though my money's on him) then I would say Grayson.

From the adverts on the telly i am now 99% convinced that Carl is the killer!!!
Although as the storyline has gone on for so long, there are many holes in the storyline due to the lack of research and that the writers and directors didn't know who killed Tom in the beginning so it would have been difficult for them to do it justice!!

LOL! Yeah well we know he has a track record. Agreed there, gudboi. At least if they're going to do something like this the should know exactly who dun it and then gradually build up to it being revealed while including many INTERESTING red herrings. This has just been tedious beyond belief. Patsy

I don't think Carl is a cold-blooder killer if he turns out to have done it, and what happened with Paul Marsden was a complete accident!! Carl's motive is all about Chas so its a crime of love really, you could say it is romantic in a twisted way!!! lol

I wouldn't have expected her to have taken the money. She has her pride and normally would have thrown it in Tom's face. They really didn't think any of it through.

It was so badly acted. Carl's been acting guilty for months and tonight in court I thought he was overacting in the dock just saying nothing.

Bit OTT though, wasn't it? I was cringing at the cliche of it. No need for that particular song at all.

I agree with you Gingercat it was very tastefully done not ott at all , a lovely moment although the song was a bit cheesy it was just right Here here, I was gutted though that it was one of the Kings boys. And I certainly didn't expect really the excuse that Carl gave, I thought he would have found out that he was Scarletts father and that he found out that Tom had paid Carrie to keep quiet so that Carl could have a life, bearing in mind his age at the time. I really thought it was Grayson and Rosemary, adn then when Barraclugh through that chair across at him (pity it missed! ) I thought she too was involved. I felt sorry for Matt though, I mean I would have wanted to know if my siblings had killed my Dad, so I can understand him feeling left out. They really kknow how to tear this fictional family apaprt. I really hope that now, they keep schtum, even if it is to stop the smug look on Grayson and Rosemary's face. As for Len, we pretty much knew that Len was going to die, but it was still a shock, but a nice ending with Catherine's song. I thought it was a beautiful scene with Edna and them walking off hand in hand. I knew he loved Edna, and she felt the same. I have never liked Pearl, she is too full of herself and sees herself higher than her friends.

I thought it was a terrific episode.
I loved the scenes between Edna and Len. I thought the ending was so sad with all the villagers realising what had happened over Katherine Jenkins singing, even Shadders removed his 'hat' I also hope we never see Hari again ( Attempted murder etc should put paid to his return. )
I so hoped the murderer was going to be Grayson.
Wait for Carl to implode now.

Wait for Carl to implode now. Yes, I loved that scene too between Len and Edna. I was just about to say, 'remove your hats' when Shadrach did it. Yep, I was so convinced that Grayson had also done it with his Mum, then I wondered when Barraclough through the chair across the room, whether she was in with it with the. HOwever, it has been on 'This Morning' that they had planned on ONE of the boys doing it, and showed 3 clips of Jimmy, Carl and Matt both being revealed as the killer. Either way, Carl had witnessed it. The thing is now, will the brothers stick together? Tom revealed that we will see a different side to Carl now, so does that indicate that Carl is staying??

Well I didn't suspect Carl and I don't even think he was in my top 5 choice. Rosemary was always my top choice however when I learned a bit back that Len was going to die, I did wonder as he was a suspect. However I really hoped it wasn't him and I am so glad it wasn't him.
As to the episode itself, on the whole I found the first 40 minutes quite boring, however the last 20 minutes more than made up for it. All the thing with Len I thought was tastefully done, Katherine Jenkins role throughout I thought was tastfully done and the end very moving. The King brothers story did almost have me on the edge of my seat and nice twist at the end there with that story. Also quite nice that the Hopes did win despite Eli's best efforts. Oh and Eric was ever amusing in the whole episode. Son called Eirc Jnr LOL.
While it certainly had its high points, as important special episodes go, it was a bit of a let down until those last 20 minutes, the first 40 minutes just seemed like fodder. The Katie/Jo fight didn't really amount to much. So Hari is yet another criminal capable of even murder.
If I was a casual viewer (which in some ways I now am) nothing in that episode left me wanting to watch tonight. Poor Len, I don't want to sit through the heartache there tonight and we now know who killed Tom King? There were no other strong stories.
I do ask will Louise and Hari be taken to court for perverting the course of justice and sentanced like Kelly?
I'm guessing yet anothing killer in Emmerdale will get away with it? And in Carl's case he has now been the cause of two deaths.
Oh I noticed they changed history again. Max was always Tom's favourite wasn't he? Not Carl. At least they just about remembered Max existed, well the audio description did by referring to a photo.

Yes that's right. That's why Tom was so depressed when Max died. He drove his favourite son to his death. I'm surprised they didn't remove Max from the photo.
