EE star June Brown has come out and said she believes Nasty Nick, the ultimate prodigal son, should return.
It got me thinking... who else should return to soapland, not just in EastEnders but across the board?
Also what returns have worked and which ones have not?

As I`ve said for years....Harry Flagg in Corrie. Also Freda, Ernies sister I think. I`d also like Todd to come back permanantly but not get together with Sean. I know it won`t happen but I`d jump for joy if Dawn Acton reprised her role as Tracey Barlow.
In EE, like JB I`d also like to see Nick come back. It would be brilliant if Chrissie Watts came back too.
In Emmerdale, it would be nice to see Kathy Bates again. I`d also like to see Robert Sugden again too - even he seems likeable compared to Andy these days - as long as he was replaced with another actor. I`d like to see Steph again too.
The return that didn`t work in EE was Steven Beale. Maybe if a different actor played him, the storyline would`ve been more believable.
I hate to say it but Leanne Battersbys return just doesnt seem to work out lately. She ends up in one mess after another and never seems to learn from her past mistakes.

Id like to see Hilda Ogden and Mavis Wilton return to Corrie, but I know either of them returning is unlikely!
Good idea about Freda in Corrie, CG! Id love to see her return. It would also give Emily a storyline.
In Hollyoaks it would be good to see Mandy return - and Jack's daugher Ruth was always a great character too.
I think Leanne's return in 2004 has worked and Bet Lynch's in 2002 clearly didnt!

I would like to see Harry Flagg & Linda Sykes/Baldwin back in Corrie along with maybe Hilda,Mavis and Bet doing some guest re-visits...mind you it would be nice to see Ken and Deirdre back full time  In Emmerdale I would like to see Nick Bates finally get out of prison and return,along with his sister Kathy..and Tina Dingle ..if they could get Jacqueline Pirie/Chadwick back I would start watching it again...but then again I have already requested that she go back to Corrie as Linda,so I guess she can't be in 2 places at once |

LOL! Just as long as Reet doesn't return full time along with Ken and Deirdre. She can stay part-time. One ep a year. Isn't it funny they've rested them since the Tracy stuff yet the Pratts are still rammed down throats after 8 years? Not sure about the drag queen. Do we need her bad acting when there's enough already? Hilda, Mave, Harry Flagg and Linda Baldwin were great. Lane I know would agree about Linda as she's a fan of Jacqui Chadwick. Course she can. Whenever she's away she turns up in the other. LOL! I want Alan Bradley back to polish Reet off. Failing that, the peasant will do. Patsy |

maybe Hilda could come back more affluent after marrying Dr Lowther and him dying and her inheriting all his dosh...and with Bet all down on her luck it would be like a role reversal (Bet could even be given a cleaners job at the Rovers')

Other Corrie returns I`d love would Gary Mallet and the twins, Dennis Tanner, Linda Chaveski, Peter Barlow, and as mentioned Linda Sykes/Baldwin.
Who`s bright idea was it to kill off Ray Langton? I`d have loved to see him come back and start a rival building business. That would never happen now.
Where the heck is Boris? Would love to see some scenes with him. He didn`t get laid off with Kirk did he?

I still cannot get over the decision to bring back Ray to justify how they ruined Tracy by changing history and casting a shit actress only to then kill him off. We deny that Corrie reality!

Exactly. He didn't. He just showed her up to be crap. Even after all those years not acting, Neville Buswell wiped the floor with her. LOL!
If they hadn't changed Tracy's history to fit in with their laziness there wouldn't have been any need to bring him back. There were no reasons for her behaviour because Tracy was never like that. I'm with Lane and it was supposed to be Linda Baldwin. Far too much at the beginning was pure Linda, right down to what she called people. Perhaps if they'd cast someone who could actually act then it would have been pulled off.

Tracy was always quite selfish though. But yes Tracy played by Kate Ford was far worse and pure evil instead of just selfish. It made the viewers love to hate her. As you know I prefer Kate Ford's Tracy to Dawn Acton.

A lot of viewers just saw KF though rather than Tracy. They completely changed the character's personality when they brought her back then tried to excuse it by blaming it all on Ray not being there when she didn't care and considered Ken her dad from Christabel Finch, wanting to be Tracy Barlow when it was Holly Charmarette. It was all bollocks what DL did.

Nope. Don't blame her really or Thelma. They'd only be a ratings gimmick anyway. IF they came back it should be a surprise ony ITV don't know when to keep it shut.

I`ve never been much of a fan of Maves over the years I must admit but given the choice of reet and Norris or reet and Mave - give me Reet and Mave everytime.

Having Norris all these years makes anyone prefer Mave. LOL! I always thought they worked better together. Mavis could give as good as she got. Norris is a miserbale, moaning, pain in the bum. They've tried to recreate Reet and Mave a few times but it doesn't work. So I saw. ;D I still wish I could find her in Goodbye Mr Chips. She's one of the dancers around Petula Clark but they all look the bloody same. I mean come on. There's a film where Yootha Joyce is in it about 19 seconds but I can see her. Why is Barbara so hard to see?  I think the earliest thing I've got is George and the Dragon and she really did look different. If you can get Never Mind The Quality, Feel The Width, she's in an ep of that and excellent. They rewrote a George and the Dragon ep and she's playing the Peggy Mount part in a scene at a doctors but plays it better. Peggy Mount never had that range.
