Yes its always confusing when the characters are different ages to the actors, but Bill Roache and Helen Worth are both far older than the characters they play. With Barbara its only around 18 months. Barb is still 78!

True! I wonder if she will finally quit when she gets to 80? I doubt it!

I remember that video, I watched it many many times during the 1990s when I first got it. I loved it. Although as you say barely any Alan. If I remember rightly they showed a few clips from when they first got together, the wedding Alan tried to arrange and then a few things in the build up to when he attacked her plus the attack.
They seemed to concentrate more on Reet and Len and then some of Reet and Ted in this video. I wonder what Reet's first scene was in 1972, i think she was in it it bit before that scene where Len turns up at Harry Bates house to take her out. Pity we dont get to see all her early scenes.

I know. You'd think they would have included the actual beginnings.

She was told the news of Betty's death - she was amazing in that scene, so realistic!

It had loads the other day too. Maybe she's thinking of her own mortality, especially being ill.

PMSL! This was left on my site guestbook: Date: 22-Apr-12, 5:55 PM, GMT +1 Name: Joseph Landrut Web: www.developing-society.com/Location: United Kingdom United Kingdom Number: 19 Dear Barbara - as a long standing fan of Coronation Street I would like to suggest that the show is revamp by removing sketches that represent potential Adultery. It would be nice to see a multi cultured community I.E. Christian and Muslim. Unfortunately unless major changes to coronation street take place the show will be removed the television and a more friendly family show will take its place. Violet Carson and Wilfred Pickles would turn in their grave; the way the show as changed during past tears.

I just love these emails from people thinking my site is official.
Any help you can offer on this very much appreciated. Where did Barbara get the jacket she's worn on set a few times now. It's black, edged with pink, and has shoes and handbags printed on it? I've trawled the net and serched all the big stores and mail order firms. Wold you be able to ask her please?......Many thanks either way, ROSEMARY DAVIES

What a brilliant episode!
So she has finally done the deed and wed Dennis Tanner and now has the same surname as her arch rival!

It was brilliant wasn`t it Jez (apart from the Tommy/Tina/Rick borefest.) What would Elsie say? LOL Funnily enough I watched an old episode last night of when Reet whacked Len at the club knocked him off his stool, and Elsie went ballistic on her. And then Len had Reet, Elsie and I think Deidre all looking after him - until they realised that Len was milking his concussion for all he was worth LOL Not sure if it was the Gatsy or the Orinoco Club they were all at. It was 1976 that`s all I know.

I have that episode on DVD from the 1970s box set! Late 1970s and early 1980s I think is my fave era of Corrie, I could watch them all again from 1975 onwards.

Yes she is homer. No doubt Reet will be doing the warbling on a Corrie Christmas episode with the snow falling as the credits roll. ;D
