I loved Jenny M in the Weakest Link soap special. She showed a lot more class than a certain misery guts female on another soap.

Found out today Jennie McAlpine will be at the British Isles show in Toronto in March. Seems strange they've got her booked now when they don't even know if she will be filming then. Its on the website though.

I hate to say it, but I agree with you on that Hilda.I saw a bit of 'Are You Being Served' today and she was complete shite in that too. Although to give Wendy Richard her due, she was good in EE when it first started.

Hilda can you please get that dirty big chip off your shoulder that you seem to have against the soap`s? there is no need for those kind of comment`s :x. before you start on me I liked Are you being Served it was a good show but I agree with Corriegirl , Wendy was complete shite as Miss Brahm`s. and Wendy was good as Pauline when EE first started, she isn`t as good now but I blame the scripwriter`s they have a lot to answer for as they can and do ruin good show`s. I disagree with you about EE I`m glad it was launched in the first place ok.

Soaps give a lot of pleasure to a lot of people Rob...yeah even EE if that`s what floats peoples boats. You do have an option towards watching soaps Rob. There`s a marvelous invention called the remote control that lets people change channels if they don`t like what they are watching. There`s even a power switch on the tv to use whenever they like!!!!

Thanks Valda...ditto Rob, I just can`t understand it. If you dislike soaps so much, then why do you have a user name of one of arguably the best characters ever on Coronation Street? Soaps have always gone through many highs and lows. But with 3 of the main soaps with nearly 100 years of storylines between them, it is difficult to maintain quality and quantity. And don`t forget, with up to 5/6 episodes in one week of some soaps then the task gets harder and harder. That`s probably why the writers and producers gets so much flack. Another reason is that whenever a new producer takes over a soap they have their own way of deciding things, and there is usually a mass cull of characters leaving to either get rid of dead wood or for sensationalism under the helm of a new producer.

Actually it`s nearly 101 years of storylines between the biggest 3 soaps... Corrie = 46 in December Emmerdale = 34 EE - 21 Yikes!!

Yes rob why do you?nice points Corrie girl, Rob there is one thing I`d like to know if you dislike soaps so much why are you a member of a soap site?. Corriegirl if there is nearly 101 year`s of storyline`s between the biggest soap`s corrie =46 in december emmerdale=34 and ee=21 wow this show`s how populer soap`s are doesn`t it? and as they have all got a big following of people watching them and that they are all still going that blows Robs theory right out of the water that soap`s are the worst form of entertainment doesn`t it? . (still giveing hilda /robthe freezeing cold shoulder treatment)

I Thanks Valda, you`re so kind ;D I think the reason for the soaps success over the years is because the love for the soaps used to be passed down from generation to generation. Take Coronation Street for instance. My mother watched the very first one in 1960 and has hardly ever missed an episode of it since. And I became a fan of it because my mother (and grandmothers) loved it too. My dad reckons all the soaps are rubbish, but I used to see my dad peeking over his newspaper in the living room whenever something exciting was happening on Corrie lol My mother was a fan of Emmerdale from day one too. Although she never watched much in the 80`s as she worked the evening shift and as she already had Corrie being taped she never bothered with Emmerdale Farm as it once was. And then during the 80`s my twin sis became a highe fan when Jackie Merrick camer into it.....she worshipped him and cried her eyes out when he died. My mother hasn`t watched EE in year. Nor does she intend to so she said last time I talked to her. I can count on one hand the amount of times I`ve watched EE in the past year and still leave fingers free. I think the last time I watched it was when Alfie and Nana went to France on Remerance day. And I hadn`t watched it for months before that. It`s just not the same soap anymore....not the EE that I knew and loved anyway. A huge shame.

I tend to agree with you Corriegirl , I started watching Corrie as a girl with my now late parent`s in the 60`s, the bit I loved and rember the most is hilda singing as she cleaned the rover`s and annie walker telling her "oh do be quiet mrs ogden I have a blinding headache"lol. my mum was also a fan of emmerdale since day one and as I had a crush on Joe sugden I did too . I did watch ee at the begening but like you can count on one hand and have finger`s to spare how many time`s I watch it now, it sadly isn`t the same soap anymore I stopped watching when Kat and Alfie left the square in the car. it is a huge shame ,but I hope it will go back to being the ee we knew but so far it isn`t sadly:(
