I'm a bit uncomfortable with this storyline....I can understand jamie possibly having a crush on Frankie..but Frankie has brought him up since he was 5 as her own son...it dosen't seem right somehow..I don't think she would behave like that

to be honest Nick this storyline is makeing me feel ill (running to the bathroom, ,) (sorry about that) yes I can see how Jamie might have a crush on Frankie, but it`s way out of Frankie,s character to behave as she is doing when she brought Jamie from 5 year`s old (sorry, running to the bathroom again!)

I hate this storyline, it makes my stomach churn everytime I see Jamie making sheeps eyes at Frankie. Lets be honest, for about 20 years she has been his 'mum.' It is only one step away from incest.

And a small step at that

And a small step at that Surely it's a pretty large step? The taboo on incest in various societies around the world has its entirely sensible basis in the repercussions of genetically imperfect offspring which can result from incestuous relationships. Most taboos are based on similarly practical reasoning. In Frankie and Jamie's case, it simply doesn't apply - they are not blood relations. Clearly, though, the character of Frankie is still uncomfortable with it, but Jamie realises there is at bottom, nothing actually wrong with it.

Hasn't there been fuss before in the papers when in-laws get together (son/mother for example) saying it's illegal? No idea where the law stands on steps.

This storyline is rather strange. Im sure the law says its wrong even if they arent blood related she has brought him up as her son from a young age. Its the same with step siblings, if they have been brought up together from a young age its still wrong if they got together, like Scott and Kelly in Emmerdale.
This isnt the first time a soap has tackled such a taboo - Brookside anyone? But I suppose they could get around it by saying its not incest as they arent blood related.

I just don't see how you can look at someone you have thought of as mum for 20 years and suddenly want to love and have sex with them..its bizzare,..I have a step father and it would be the last thing on my mind

They'll do anything for ratings. It's a yet another stupid storyline to write someone out.

Don't know about a relationship but marriage is definitely illegal in UK - not however in Spain, which by the way also allows half-brothers and sisters to marry - strange or what? Although I think the storyline is sick who the hell gives a damn these days? Anything to up the ratings and it is a bit different and no doubt we'll watch it out of curiosity - well I will,,,,

The relationship storyline between Sharon and Dennis on EE made me decide to stop watching it. I hope this won`t be the case of me turning away from my beloved Corrie.

Sharon and Dennis didn't know each other or of each other for about 30 years before they met - so their affair/marriage was just about acceptable.
Jamie and Frankie have a mother and child relationship and it's too weird for words.

I've done a bit of googling, and I'm still not absolutely sure what the legal position is in the UK. In certain American states, sexual relations between a stepmother and stepson definitely are illegal, but a definitive statement of what applies in the UK is hard to find. The Frankie/Jamie thing definitely is weird, though, if eperhaps not strictly illegal.

I did post the legal side of this but I think you've summed it up and I agree with you it just doesn't feel right.

Personally I don't have a major problem with the storyline as such - yes it's tacky, but they aren't related, and they're closer in age than Frankie and Danny. In fact I don't find it nearly as grotesque as the Scott/Kelly rubbish in Emmerdale, which we still get painfully reminded of from time to time....or maybe that was worse becuase they are/were two very unpleasant people? No, my problem is that I just don't believe it from the characters point of view, particularly Frankie's, and I also feel it's a rather lame way to write Debra Stephenson out of the show, when she's been woefully underused from the very start. I would also add that, like Corriegirl, it was around the time of the Sharon/MiniDen cr@p in EE that I decided to stop watching EE too!

Im wondering what the hell Frankie is playing at. Its obvious she wants to get away from him and move to Spain with Danny, yet she is only encouraging him other times.
