I really didnt think they could top last years Christmas episode and didnt think they would going by the spoilers, but IMO I think theydid! What an excellent hour from Corrie tonight, full of humour and families enjoying the day together. I watched it with my family and we were all laughing so much throughout the entire episode episode especially when David said they all deserved oscars and then the Christmas pudding fell on the floor! Really liked the storyline with the Grimshaw's as well. I look forward to seeing how that one develops in future episodes. Sarah's reaction was priceless! And nice to see all the oldies in this episode - Emily, Betty, Vera, Jack, Reet - they were all there. Norris was a spoilsport stopping Reet have her Christmas sing song Nice to see Maureen back for a visit as well. And a Kate Ford free episode for the first time since she arrived at Christmas 2002! That should please a few here! ;D Overall a great hour of entertainment which proves they dont need OTT and hyped up storylines to make a good Christmas episode. Well Done Corrie 10/10

But Reet has a good voice! Why else would there be a petition for Barbara to have a CD released?

Reet DID have a good voice before she went mid-Atlantic and murdered songs. She doesn't sing like that on the album.

The episode was really good - even though I'd read the spoilers and knew what to expect.
NO TRACY AND CHARLIE was one of its best features!
Blanche was good - trying to goad everyone into a fight, and being sat on by everyone else.
The best bit was dinner at Gail's house and the aftermath. It was a bit nasty of the Websters to laugh about it all afterwards - none of them is perfect.
I agree with Jez - overall good entertainment.

Hooray! Maybe when there's no KF and Charlie full stop it will improve in leaps and bounds and get me watching again. Maybe. LOL!
It really does sound like you had a good day, blackcatz. I was far too sober by half.

Well Corrie in 3rd place was about what I expected tbh. It doesnt matter as we all know Corrie is usally top every other week!

I suppose Eastenders was bound to get more viewers,it would have the usual viewers plus all the ones tuning in to celebrate the death of hatchet faced harridan Pauline Fowler

I liked it more than EE's episodes anyway. No real misery - just a few unhappy faces and plenty of comedy. Nice to see all the oldies being involved, as they are the backbone to the Street. Steve/Amy emphasis seemed a bit pointless all things considered. Jack & Vera was fairly okay. Highlight was David's witty commentary on events in the Platt household. I loved everything that happened at the Platt's. He really did have some classic lines. Maureen's return was also welcome. However more bitchiness between Sally and Gail would have been good. As for Jason's long lost baby - interesting. Overall: 9/10 (loses one mark for not having KF as Tracy - possibly the best Corrie character ever!!! LOL!!! - only joking it is actually for Steve/Betty drivel)

OK - seen it now, and realtively sober at the time too!
Fantastic episode - just what we need at Xmas. Lots of little cameos, some great lines, and nothing toooo heavy, gloomy, or blood-spattered. Great ending too, with Queen's 'Somebody to Love' (I think) in the background.
10/10? - nah - I'll give it 11.

As we know the episode came 3rd in the Christmas ratings. It did well considering it was up against SCD on BBC1 and it beat it!

It was bound to beat it because SCD never gets the same ratings. Didn't do too badly though. I want a battle between EE and Corrie but they'll never do that.

If they did that on Christmas Day EE would win, but if they did it any other day Corrie would!
