Street star lands ITV chat show Coronation Street's Antony Cotton is going head to head with chat show host Paul O'Grady, and TV stalwarts Richard and Judy, with a new show on ITV1.
The Antony Cotton Show, an hour-long show combining celebrity chat and topical humour, will air at 1700 BST for a five-week run next month.
"I'm delighted to have been given this opportunity," said the 31-year-old.
Cotton will continue in his role as Sean Tully, which recently saw him win best actor at the British Soap Awards.
Both shows will be filmed at Granada Studios in Manchester.
"I love working on Coronation Street and producers have been kind enough to allow me to leave the cobbles earlier in the day to get into the studio next door to make the show," said Cotton.
"It's going to be gossipy, light-hearted, chatty and irreverent, but most of all fun with lots of tea and cake."
Award-winning chat show host O'Grady moved from ITV1 to Channel 4 in Spring 2006, leaving the broadcaster struggling to fill the crucial tea-time slot.
O'Grady shares the C4 time slot with presenters Richard Madeley and Judy Finnegan, with two programmes rotating every three months.

*pushes master Cotton onto the Janice bandwagon* OUT OUT OUT
Enough is e-flaming-nough now. And if Bradley Walsh with masses of talent can`t make a chat show through to the pilot episode, what chance does AC have?

I have already complained to Channel 4 twice about smutty innuendo served up at 5pm by Paul when he is supposed to be presenting a family show...God knows what AC will be like in his first live shows...I shan't be watching either

I'm not keen on PoG at the best of times and only watch if there's someone in particular I want to see.

I am the same Pats...trouble is,they try to cram so much rubbish into one hour (45 mins if you take out the ad breaks and the 'coming up' bits) that you don't really find out much about the person only what book, film or TV show they are in or where they are on tour

He also goes on about himself too much in-between sucking up if he's a fan of something like when he had Stephanie Cole on.

Well as it's more likely I'll run down my street naked in the pouring rain than Barbara going on anything I think I can safely avoid it.

And she might want to spite you as you would have to tape her interview and fit it onto her interview tape.
