Well I said 10 years if it carries on like this. I'm really loving these DVDs. I want to know what happens in the next ep. Don't get that now. Don't care about the characters or story lines. And when people stop caring....
Bloody arrogant replies though, don't you think? "It's our show and we can do what the hell we like so eff you!" sort of thing.

Here is my reply to the reply I received from ITV
Thankyou for your prompt reply regarding my complaint about Corrie......but I don't agree. Coronation street is not meant to be surreal. And if the powers that be think it should then they are very much misguided. The League of gentlemen is surreal.Little Britain is surreal.Footballers wives is surreal. Corrie is supposed to be a drama about real people in real life. I feel that if that is the policy of the current producers on the programme, where you can just make up what you want when you want regarding people's history, and write silly half baked plots, just to give characters something to do,then the programme is on a very slippery slope. And it will end up a shallow 'drama' like Bad girls or Footballers wives, with over the top, unbelievable plots.or it will be finished in 5 - 10 years. many thanks for taking the time to read this, and i hope you will be kind enough to pass this on to the powers that be as well..Many Thanks..Nicholas Wood,Hammersmith

The below is a very good reply Nick. However please I don't know who you sent it too but all complaints must go through dutyoffice@itv.com. So if you sent that reply back to Corrie also forward it on to the dutyoffice@itv.com as it is they who will pass on the complaint to the bosses above Corrie. Corrie will only pass it to Corrie and your comments are too good for that. The bosses at ITV - bosses of Corrie's bosses - deserve to see that. My reply Nick (including the one I received)
I feel I must complain about the attitude of my reply from David Nugent. The first paragraph about changing history is like, "It's our show, we can do what we want and stuff you lot" which I find offensive. There are books, episodes still in existence and other things they could go by. It just makes a mockery of continuity which Coronation Street used to pride themselves on.
The second part about Kate Ford could frankly have come direct from Daran Little since he's said pretty much the same on CSVU 2 years ago where he insulted a viewer for disagreeing with him. Citing her Soap Bitch award as reason for her to still be there is ridiculous and smacks of desperation. It's hardly Best Actress and the Bitch award was voted for by the panel anyway, not viewers. Steve McFadden of EastEnders is not happy with his Villain awards because he says they're more for the writers than acting. I agree. The same goes for Bitch. Everything she has been part of winning is down to the dialogue she was given rather than her performance.
I realise loyal viewers mean nothing to Granada these days. Money and the casual viewers attracted by spoilers are all that count. Without the loyal viewers they wouldn't make as much money as they do because the casuals won't buy the DVDs, books and any other stuff they put out.
Regards,
Patricia Dempsey
Let's see what happens now. Arrogant gits.

LOL! I thought they were meant to be polite. After Daran's rants and crap about KF (and I'll dig them out because I have them all somewhere) on CSVU, I wouldn't be surprised if it was by him instead and he used a spellchecker to disguise his lower case. Very much in the same tone.

Well someone has PM'd me with a letter they wrote and a reply they have received today but they don't want to put them up on the boards. However it was a lot nicer than either of yours but their complaint wasn't any nicer than yours. So what is going on?

I bet they have a cupboard full of these standard fob off letters.
All they have to do is put someones name on it.

They do have bog standard replies but they are normally polite. Sorry to hear bla bla hope it doesn't spoil your enjoyment and rest assured your comments will be pased to whoever it is responsbile for your complaints. Thank you for writing etc.
Or if you have a specific question they attempt to answer. So what Nick and Patsy got is quite baffling.

I just looked through my old emails and this is what I had on the 19th May 2005 in answer to Mike Baldwin complaints, asking for Linda Baldwin to come back and Kate Ford. It is very similar to all the replies I've ever seen before what people have had including the person who PM'd me yesterday. I just don't understand Nick and Patsy's. Oh but mine ignored my nice comments.
Thank you for your e-mail regarding Coronation Street. Alas there are no plans for Jacqueline Chadwick who played Linda making a return in the foreseeable future. I’m sorry to read that you are disappointed with the acting abilities of Kate Ford and her portrayal of Tracy Barlow. I will of course pass your comments and concerns onto our production team especially the Producer and the Casting Director. Once again thank you for your e-mail as we always appreciate feedback from our audience and I do hope your concerns do not spoil your continued enjoyment of Coronation Street.
Yours sincerely,

Just found what I wrote around the same date as the reply. Might of been the same afternoon.
It has been nice seeing Mike Baldwin and Adam again in Coronation Street stories. However it has got me thinking is there any chance of Linda Baldwin coming back? She is one of my all time favourite characters. I used to really love to hate her and she could be so funny as well as bitchy. I guess it is because she was played by an extremely talented young woman. Also I am very sorry to read today that Kate Ford has been given another contract with Coronation Street. I have never warmed to her as Tracy Barlow, in part because she is such a poor actress. I try and avoid all episodes Tracy Barlow is likely to be in now as I find Kate so frustrating to watch. She just isn't believable in the role. I used to really like Tracy Barlow under Dawn Acton. While I appreciate Dawn may not have been right for the current incarnation, I will never understand how Kate Ford passed her audition. Also it amazes me how after all this time that directors haven't explained to Kate that there is far more to portraying a character than just reading your lines and grinning. Time she went back to drama school and learnt her craft instead of being given new contracts. I am really enjoying Leanne Battersby back on Coronation Street and can't see why she cannot be built up as the latest Coronation Street bitch. The current Tracy Barlow had had her day before she even auditioned.

Maybe they'll be more obnoxious in future. But it's a good way of alienating the fans, isn't it, thus lowering the ratings? Patsy
