I should imagine they get the first letter of complaint, realise it could be the first of many, and keep one reply for everybody. What they don't have the courtesy to do is check and change the names of people they send the next letter to.

He does everything though. Duty office as well as if you wrote to the producer or exec producer. Mind you at least if you do it by post it's a better reply.

I would. A paper copy is harder to ignore than an e-mail which they could just delete.
