Me neither and if I haven't by the end of next week, I'm going to print it off and sent it to whoever took over from Carolyn Reynolds, since David Nugent also did replies for her.

Anyone get any replies back in the end? I didn't. And now Kieran Roberts (boo, hiss!) is back as Exec Producer we stand no chance of them listening whereas Steve Frost might have without that moron breathing down his neck.

This is the one I sent tonight. Not that they'll read it properly and if I get a reply, it will probably be some bog-standard b/s:
I really feel I must complain about this ridiculous Alzheimer's storyline. Have they even reasearched it properly? Doesn't look like it from where I am. Looks more like they are recycling Richard turning Audrey mad even down to her, "I think I'm losing my mind" line Mike had recently, but throwing in the odd bit of forgetfulness into the bargain. There are many stages of Alzheimer's plus drugs suffers can take to ease the symptoms. But the rate Corrie is going, he'll be in nappies and completely gaga by Easter. It doesn't happen this fast. He was of sound mind in April for crying out loud. With all the history changes it appears it's the writers with the memory problems. 1) Susan Baldwin had an abortion. She was too selfish to have a child that young. She loved Mike but didn't want children before a career. But I suppose they could get away with that one - just. 2) Mike never had a brother. This is really taking the biscuit. He was an only child. Danny is a good character but it would have been better if he'd just been another from an affair. 3) Tonight there was reference to Mark Redman. They made up at Fred and Eve's wedding in 2001! Even that Family Album included clips. Mike made the first move writing to him after Alma's funeral and they stayed in touch. 4) Mike asking where Bet is on Monday and everyone assuming he said Bev was pathetic. They expect us to stretch believability too far. There is no way someone like Norris wouldn't have turned around and told Rita and Emily he DID say Bet unless the writers have suddenly turned them all hard of hearing. Then there's all this cruise business. It has been bad enough when they send Rita on one and she reads the usual stuff when she goes on them regularly (starting with that spin-off video) so should be talking from experience. The writers seemed to have completely forgotten she went on one at the end of October when she returned at the start of December, saying to Emily it had been a long time since she got dressed up when she would have every night all those weeks. But now even the simplest mistakes are being made. There are NO ships based at Plymouth. Liz McDonald said to Bev on Monday about docking there. In fact, if they looked anything up, they would see Plymouth gets about 11 calls June-October. I have a friend lives there and looked it up when she texted to say they heard a ship whistle last month. I know Corrie is fiction but there are no 4 week cruises including Casablanca. This is misleading to the people watching who think they can get on a ship at Plymouth because I can just imagine some viewers popping down the travel agent to book something similar. There are only 3 (Black Prince from Southampton sailing today and the other two are fly-cruises to Italy) and all last 2 weeks. Cruise prices are for the full term. It isn't like Ocean Village or easyCruise where you pick and choose. So even if they only went 2 weeks out of 4 they would still be paying 4. Tonight was reference to cabins. You choose your cabin when you book! Brochures and online sites have plans of various grades. And most cruise ships don't have bunks any more because they're modern or have been refitted to modern standards. The QE2 is one of the few remaining to still have a few bunks and that's in their lowest grade (as also seen on the spin-off video). And you also select your dining options when you book. It's not like a plane. It doesn't take more than a few minutes to look up something like this. The first rule of writing as set out by writers is never to write about things you don't know. If they can't get something as simple as this right, then they shouldn't be tackling heavier things like Alzheimer's. Regards, Patricia Dempsey

Got a reply. Completely ignored the stuff about the ships. I've heard of a similar reply sent to someone else so this is obviously their latest bog standard b/s:
Dear Mrs Dempsey,
Thank you for your e-mails regarding our portrayal of Alzheimers on Coronation Street.
I can fully appreciate your concerns over the medical accuracy in Coronation Street and I will of course forward these onto to both our Producer and Researcher and I apologise for any distress we caused you by these scenes. When producing episodes of Coronation Street we have to deliberate how we are going to match the requirements of the storyline and character portrayal against the responsibility of accuracy. We cannot give so much information that Coronation Street stops becoming a serial drama, which it is, and it becoming a drama-documentary programme, which it makes no pretence to be. The vast majority of our viewers accepts this dramatic veracity and do not want or expect absolute accuracy. However please be assured that we will strive to deal with this terrible disease in a realistic and dignified manner and our hearts go out to the families who have had to cope every day with this cruel affliction. I’m not at liberty to disclose future developments, but our story involving Alzheimers is not about to disappear, there is far too much dramatic and emotional territory yet to be explored. Mental illness in the elderly is treated as a taboo subject, but this makes us all the more determined to bring these heartfelt issues to the attention of the widest possible audience.
Once again thank you and your wife for your e-mails and we have taken your comments onboard and do hope these issues do not spoil your future enjoyment of the show. If you would like to take this matter further you can contact our governing regulatory body, Ofcom at Riverside House, 2a Southwark Bridge Road, London, SE1 9HA.
Yours with Best Wishes, David Nugent, Coronation Street.
