The original is coming out in a few DVDs but there is no chance apparently of Carlton's seeing the light of day on shiny discs.

I know! In another two months (ish) it will be two years since Mark 3 ended with Angel waking up. It really is a pity the show got axed, since it was promised a year in its slot until a new boss took over and wanted to make their mark so decided to axe it.
Although Paul O Grady and Des & Mel are good, I'd still rather Angel, Max, Kate and the rest of the gang as it was so different from all the other soaps in that it was pure escapism and fun for a half an hour each day. I think if they had tried a few different times things might have been different and the show could still be around if they'd gotten the correct slot.

2001 and 2003 should never have been created. An insult to Crossroads the pair of them.

I have to say, I much preferred the good old days of Meg, Jill, Amy etc. I certainly will buy the DVD.

It's a great DVD, Sooty and will leave you wanting more. I have several eps not included on there or shown on UK Gold like one with Malcolm Ryder poisoning Meg, the day before Meg and Hugh's wedding and 4 from 1977 (max thingy who worked at the motel's flat than they later reused for Diane). I also have a compilation of 3 hours leading up to Meg's exit but both QE2 eps are cut so I'm looking forward to a complete version one of these days! LOL! I already had the original 3 ep video released in 1988 which I won from a now defunct magazine. I also have that introduction in the extras only my copy has the timecode so it's nice to see it without.

I thought the first resurrection of Crossroads was quite good..The hotel looked smart..their big mistake was killing off Jill...the second resurrection was dreadful..it was like a poor joke..and the ending was an insult to all of the hundreds of actors and behind the scenes staff that had worked on the programme for 40 years

I hated the 2001 version especially after they killed Jill, made Adam loopy (Tony Adams was told Adam hadn't killed her), Doris glam and rewrote history while deriding the past. Most places call them remakes which is rather appropriate. I actually liked the dream ending because it meant Kate Russell never worked there so Jill was alive and Adam was normal.

However in 2003 I felt very cheated when I saw the new version (like fans of the original must have felt in 2001) Ive enjoyed the first DVD and will be getting the new one in August. Hope they include the fire and Meg's departure. I also hope they include some Central episodes from the Mid 80s.

Which they won't unless Granada give them the Central ones. Maybe in the future they'll be included (especially Adam dripping wet in his swimming trunks after getting out of the Leisure Centre pool in 1987 ). Have to see. But there's plenty of untapped ATV material available yet. Patsy

LOL ive heard you mention that Adam scene before, he does nothing for me however. Give me Brad Pitt!

No idea. I wish they would though. I don't mind the purple reception, green dining room and blue bar but I know a lot of people hated it (especially the purple reception).
Ah, well Adam was an early crush of mine and it's never gone away really unlike so many. In those days people were hired for talent rather than looks and were proper actors. Tony's still gorgeous now and I only suffered that 2001 drivel after they killed Jill because of him.

I think ive seen it on a few UK Gold episode. LOL! Yeah so many crushes go away. I never even liked Brad Pitt until maybe a year or so ago, but especially since he went blonde ive really liked him, which is odd as I dont usually go for blonde! LOL! In Crossroads the only ones that one I thought was quite nice were that policeman Diane was going out with.

I quite liked Ashley Lamont in the Central ones who was going out with Sharon Metcalfe but his dad (played by Reginald Marsh aka Dave Smith in Corrie) was a criminal and he had to arrest him! Steven Pinder pre-Brookie was cute. Not really many fanciable fellas because they were all Ac-tors which is how it should be today.

Also it was never expalined...when the motel burned down in 1981..the only surviving part were the offices and Meg's lovley georgian sitting room..with the arches and the french windows leading onto the garden..these were the only motel scenes used for awhile, while the refurbishments were going on....then when the motel re opened with the lovley purple reception the sitting room changed to a drab magonlia type room..with no word of the fact it had been re decorated or even changed into a different room (which it had)

Good point, Nick. Meg was meant to have been above I presume the sitting room when everything collapsed into the basement. Or was she in the sitting room? I'm even more confused now. But what I REALLY want to know is how the hell did she get on the QE2 with days to spare? That suite especially would have been booked months beforehand. Maybe a cancellation. But there's the visa issue too. She'd never have got one so fast. I hate dramatic licence. Leaves too many plot holes.
