Interesting. Usually it says when someone will be back (like Jake Wood who has signed his contract) or they're off for panto.

Coronation Street legend Eileen Derbyshire is taking a break from the soap.
The actress, who has played Emily Bishop since 1961, has asked show producers for six months away from the cobbles.
Derbyshire will make her temporary exit early in the New Year, according to a report in The Sun today (November 23).
Details of how she'll be written out have yet to be revealed, but one rumoured possibility is that Emily could head off to go travelling with her nephew Spider.
Derbyshire, 84, is the longest-running female cast member on Coronation Street and a firm favourite with fans.
Alison King, who plays Carla Connor, will also be taking an extended break from Coronation Street in 2016.
Other cast members such as Brooke Vincent (Sophie Webster), David Neilson (Roy Cropper) and Les Dennis (Michael Rodwell) have also asked for shorter breaks so they can take part in theatre shows.
Lets hope this is just a break and not permanent. I also wonder if Alison will be back !!

Apart from Eileen I always think younger cast members 'take a break' to test the waters with a possible career outside Corrie ..of course it is a double edged sword because Corrie bosses might realise they can manage without them

Got to be health related like when Barb suddenly had 6 months off and returned considerably thinner yet covering the weight loss with baggy clothes.

It wouldn`t surprise me if Eileen Derbyshire made her break permanent. And to be honest I wouldn`t blame her if she did. Eileen has dedicated her whole life to Corrie, so if anyone deserves a break - it`s her. Eileen must be in her 80`s by now so she really should start to slow down. Maybe the scene earlier this year where the nasty vicious prawn accused her of homophobia made her wonder if it was really worth getting paid to be slandered. And quite possibly its because she is like most of us who loathes Jabba the Hat. But then he is leaving very soon, so not really sure if that`s the reason. If that was the case she would have left a long time ago. Eileen owes SB nothing. I will be so sorry to see her leave, Emily has always been one of my favourite characters. I was watching her in some old Corrie episodes over the weekend. And when I went to watch some more today I found to my dismay that the nazi YouTube meanies terminated Auntie Corrie`s account. The swines.

From DS
Actor Connor McIntyre is reprising his role as the sleazy villain Phelan, who hasn't been seen on the ITV soap in over a year.
Phelan had a six-month guest stint on the show between October 2013 and April 2014. His most memorable storyline saw him blackmail Anna into sleeping with him as part of a long-running dispute with the Windasses.
Anna gave into Phelan's demands in order to save the rest of the family from his ruthless power games, but her desperate actions proved devastating for Owen in the aftermath.
Phelan's return is bound to heap more misery on Anna, but what will he have in store this time?
Can't say I am looking forward to this. I also can't understand the point of him being back. Surely there is no SL for him anymore. Another bright idea from the disaster that is Blackburn no doubt.!

I have just read on Digital Spy plus other outlets that Carla's exit will be permanent.
Coronation Street star Alison King has dropped a soap-style bombshell of her own - she's leaving the show for good.
The actress was thought to be taking a break from her role as Carla Connor later this year, but she's now shocked fans by revealing that she has no firm plans to return.
"It's not actually a break - I'm actually leaving," King told Metro. "Because they're leaving the door open, I think people originally called it a break and people are asking 'When are you coming back?' and I'm like 'I'm not'.
"I'm looking forward to going back to doing different things and being versatile. I was meant to give myself four years at the most and I've done an amazing ten years, but it's knackering. I need to creatively be a few other people now and see my daughter a bit more."
How sad. I am going to miss Carla. I had a horrible feeling this would be permanent

So what abut Eileen Derbyshire? I wouldn't be surprised if hers really is.
